The Cave

I awoke in the dark gloomy cave. The smell of warm water coated the atmosphere along with the dank cave walls. I could see fine but, at the same time, I felt that I couldn't see anything. Where am I? I stood up and looked around. Behind me there was a wall. That's it, just a wall, a rocky slightly glistening cave wall. At the bottom rested a pile of smooth rocks. It appeared that they have been sitting there for a while, most likely collapsed from the ceiling. "How did I get here?" I thought. I looked up and only saw a dark gloomy damp ceiling and stalactites towering down dripping small drops of water every few seconds or so. I decided to walk forward, occasionally mantling over some stalactites that obstructed my path until I was halted by a wall. Well, more or less, it was two stalactites about merging together. One coming from the ground, another longer thinner one from the ceiling. Although they hadn't  fully formed as one yet, there was no way I was going to fit between them. I looked around for a couple seconds before noticing that the stalactite had a small but noticeable crack. I attempted to push on it but it did not break. I did not try again, instead, I turned around and went back the way I came in this one-chambered cave. I reached back to the cave wall and picked up one of the rocks that laid in the pile. It was smooth and damp, and in some way, felt alive. I held it close to me before walking back to what I assumed was the way to my freedom. Without hesitation I hit the stalactite hard. Instantly the long sharp cone broke off and fell on the other side, leaving an entrance for me to go through. As I expected the chamber continued, but not for very long. I noticed a small white light coming from the cave wall in front of me along with the sound of trickling water. I stopped at the wall, my first thought wasn't about the light coming from the hole in the wall rather, how I ended up in a one chamber cave. I then noticed the water. It was pooling in an ident in the ground that I didn't even notice I was standing in. The small pool did not seem to be overflowing, which lead me to conclude that it must be draining. I then followed the water up to the light. It was a hole to what I hoped to be outside. I quickly looked through it before moving back just as quick. The light, it was bright, so bright that I couldn't make out anything on the other side of what I presumed to be a wall. How long was I in this cave? Did I come through here? No, I couldn't have. This hole is way to small, not to mention I couldn't have got past that stalactite. The stalactite. I looked at the hole and noticed it was warring away. The water must have weaken the rock. I got up and went back to where the stalactite was. Without hesitation I picked it up and walked back to the hole and began to dig. Without a care I began carving out the hole and, before I knew it, the light began to take me. I found myself standing in a bright dry, hot, desert as I deserted the dark lightless, wet, cold abode I had awoken in.
