Darkness and no understanding.
The time has come, demanding.
Minutes to hours, time passes too slow,
Release, inevitable, light begins to show.
Screams and wails and cries of pain
Completely unbearable, far from mundane.
The breath of life, the enemy for now,
Without which life would never allow.
Time passes in forward, much has been done
Memories gained, conquered and won.
Childhood antics, all fun and sport.
Becoming part of a queen's high court.
The ideas become life, the make-believe real
Soon reality becomes surreal.
Happiness found within these dreams,
Innocence, in the eyes it gleams.
But the innocence slowly begins to fade,
Once so happy, now dismayed.
Reality takes its hold, the dreams are gone.
These moments of life are foregone.
Expectations we know must be met,
We say "Remember! Don't forget!"
But forget we do for life is life,
Older and older, much more strife.
The past is over, the future is yet,
Memories become a silhouette.
We never imagined, couldn't foresee,
That the outline is there, bold as can be
But it's a shade, black and white,
The color has faded, once so bright.
Priorities change and friends soon leave,
Things we once could never conceive.
Happiness crashes, self esteem dies
One starts to believe all the lies.
The voices talk, those in the head
Obviously crazy, and full of dread
For the voices continue, one, two, three
Three voices trying to take control of me.
Two on my shoulder, the good and the bad,
One so evil it makes one sad.
Painful words said out of spite,
All in my head, no respite.
Condemned from birth, but didn't know
Depression followed, always in tow.
"Give in to the pressure" the voice doth lie,
"Pain is your eternal ally.
Take pain and use it, you're worthless anyhow"
Trying to fight it, even now.
