Chapter 4
Jillian's POV
Have you ever felt that moment where you wanted to scream at a person, but couldn't do it because of the possible fatal consequences? That's what I'm feeling right now. Just by looking at him staring daggers at me, I knew deep inside that I already made an enemy with one of my teachers.
I hope he wouldn't be teaching in one of my classes. He even reiterated that I'm stupid. How could he? I'll proved him that he was wrong to think of me that way. I took a deep breath before explaining again.
"To Dr. Gavin Atkinson, the benevolent dean of the PT Department...To the teachers and staff in here...A pleasant day to all of you. I deeply apologize for intruding your meeting, but my purpose here is beneficial to all my fellow students. I just would like to ask a query with regards to the class schedule for today since it's almost class time and I haven't seen one teacher yet. As stated on the guidelines for the freshmen students, we must wait for further instructions at the main lobby located on the ground floor. As you can see, I arrived here quite early and I noticed that the teachers were nowhere to be found. I presume some of the teachers whom I could ask about the final schedule would be in the faculty room, but I haven't seen one in each designated cubicle. That's why I end up in here hoping to find some teacher to answer my questions, but instead I disrupted all of you in the middle of your meeting. I am really sorry for my intervention, but I didn't mean any harm." I stared at the faces of my possible teachers which were a mixture of shock and awe, but my new-found enemy didn't seem satisfied with my explanation and apology.
After he drank his cup of coffee, he looked at me intently and said, "I see. Well, you can't just burst in this conference room whether it's important or not. It's quite rude, you know. After all, we're in the middle of a very important meeting and Dr. Atkinson is a very busy man. He even asked you a question awhile ago, but you just disregarded it and didn't say anything. " Then he smirked and adjusted his glasses.
"Actually sir, I knocked twice and waited for a couple of seconds for someone to open the door. No one opened the door for me so I have no choice but to do it myself. Dr. Atkinson, I'm very sorry for not answering your question immediately and wasting your time.
I was just flabbergasted with your mere presence since you are a huge inspiration to me. I even subscribed to the magazine "Kinetics" since you are on the cover of the October issue. Um...Sorry for my childish behavior in front of you." I looked down and stared at my shoes.
"Come here, child. You didn't have to apologize to all of us. Mr. Marigold, you don't have to scold her. She's not at fault in here," the dean of Physical Therapy said to me as I went closer to him.
Oh. Mr. Marigold? That's the name of the grumpy and rude man who made me looked like a fool in front of everyone. I controlled myself not to laugh out loud because of the irony. His name shouldn't be Mr. Marigold! It didn't suit his personality. I imagined the person with the name of Mr. Marigold would be someone who's cheerful, always with a big smile on his face, and would greet every person he met.
Dr. Atkinson then turned to an attractive lady in her mid-twenties and smiled. "Ms. Preston, did you post the latest announcement in the bulletin board?" "Um...I-I'm afraid that I haven't done it yet," the flustered Ms. Preston uncomfortably said. Oh my. I hope she wouldn't get in trouble.
"Well, then... Please get all your belongings in your designated place," Dr. Gavin Atkinson said with utmost authority. Hmm..I wonder why he ordered her to do that?
