The duct tape dug into her wrists. Ellie continued to struggle against her bindings. She didn't know how long she'd been in there. She sat at a scrappy old wooden table in a small room with walls made from junk. They were thin enough for Ellie to hear Maggie's panicked breaths in the next room over and soon enough she could hear Merle's raspy voice as well. She heard everything he asked Glenn and she heard everything he did to Glenn. She heard Merle mock Glenn about her dad and the group, yet she could do nothing. Every time Glenn let out a grunt or cry of pain, Ellie heard Maggie whimper.
"Maggie?"Ellie called out softly.
"Oh my god, Ellie!" She cried, "are you alright?"
"I'm fine,"Ellie reassured her, "are you?"
"I don't know."Maggie's voice cracked.
"It's going to be fine, ok? They're gonna come and get us,"she told her, "and they're gonna kill that asshole!" Ellie yelled, trying to get Merle's attention away from Glenn. She hoped he could hear her. She wanted him to come in here and take some of the heat off Glenn. She was sure she could stand it but she hated the thought of someone hurting Glenn. But what she hated even more was if Merle found the prison and tried to hurt Carl or her dad or anyone else. "We're gonna be fine," she assured Maggie again, this time it was more for her sake than Maggie's.
Ellie looked around for a weapon, only to remember the one still on her. The knife she tucked into her boot. She moved her foot around to check if it was still there. It was! Ellie nearly let out a sigh of relief. She reached for it, stretching her fingers and her foot as far as she can. Finally her fingers found the cool of the hilt. She yanked it from its case and held it steadily, praying that she didn't drop it she began to cut through the duct tape. She sawed and sawed until she reached the end and the knife fell from her fingers.
"Shit!"She swore. She tried to move her hands but they were still wrapped together, although she was free from the chair. She stood up and awkwardly tried to pick the knife back up with her hands tied together. After a couple attempts she got it and sat back down before anyone came in. It took her a while but she finally noticed the silence, she was almost relieved until she heard the voices coming from where Maggie was.
"Take off your shirt."She heard a deep male voice command. She couldn't make out what he said next but she heard someone get slammed into a table. Ellie couldn't take it anymore.
"Leave her alone, you filthy pig!"Ellie screamed at the wall. There was silence. Ellie continued to saw through the rest of the tape as fast as she could. There was a slam of a door. Faster, the knife wasn't cutting through fast enough. There was footsteps. Nearly! She egged on. The door opened as the final strip of duct tape was sliced through. Ellie looked up to see a man. He looked about forty and was quite tall. He watched her with predator eyes. He took a couple of steps forward and rested his hands on the table in front of her.
"What did you call me?"She knew it was the deep voice from the other room as soon as she heard it.
"I think you heard me!" She snapped. He leaned forward and smirked. The smirk sent goosebumps down Ellie's arms. Her body begged her to turn away but she didn't break eye contact.
"You're the sheriff's daughter?" Ellie continued to glare at him, even though she was unaware of how he had got this information. "Wanna tell me where your dad is, sweetheart?" Ellie glared at him, the way he said 'sweetheart' made the hair on the back of her neck stand up.
"Come on, surely you miss him?" He taunted, "I'm sure he misses you." He started slowly walking towards her. She shifted in the chair. He leaned down in her face. She felt his breath on her eyelashes. He smelt of whiskey and oak.
"Who wouldn't miss a pretty little face like you?"He grabbed her cheeks and began to stroke them softly. Before he could get any closer she head-butted him and flew forwards out of the chair. She gripped the knife as she pushed the man to the floor. She brought it down right towards his right eye but missed when he pushed her knife away from his face. She wrapped his hands around his neck and didn't let go until he punched her in the face and threw her off him like she was a doll. She recovered quickly and kicked him in the face before crawling under the table and running for the door. She was yanked back by her hair and let out a cry of pain as she was thrown on to the table.
"You're a lot of fun, aren't you?" He sniggered. "Let's see how handy this knife is, shall we?"
He used the knife to start cutting through her light shirt. Ellie tried to push him off but he wouldn't budge. She kicked and tossed around trying to get out of his grip but it was no use. Once he had finished with her shirt he threw the remains of it away and started to undo her jeans.
"Stop!"She cried finally. But he just chuckled sadistically.
"Not so much of a smartass now!" He grinned.
"Get off me, asshole!"Ellie screamed at him. He laughed again and continued to undo her jeans. Once he had done that as well he ripped them off. Leaving Ellie in her underwear against the table. He started to move his hands all over her.
"Feel like telling me now?" He whispered in her ear.
"Go to hell!" She growled. He took a step away from her and she tried desperately to regain some breath so she could fight him off. He reached around her and stuck the knife between her bra strap and her bare skin. In one swift move he cut through it and pulled it off. Ellie straight away covered them but he batted her hands away.
"I'll give you one more chance," he said as nicely as possible. It made Ellie sick.
She spat in his face and growled, "I ain't tellin' you shit!"
He wiped the spit off his face and took his belt off. He then turned Ellie around again and pushed her hard against the table. He brought the belt down and she cried out in pain. She breathed heavily and felt like all the oxygen in her body had been taken out of her. The pain was so intense, she felt rigid all over. Then he did it again and she screamed louder. Then again. And again. And again. When he finally stopped Ellie fell to a heap on the floor. She could barely move. Waves of pain jolted through her body. The man pulled Ellie to her feet by her arm. "Take them off," he gestured to her underwear.
"No." She croaked.
"I'm sorry?"
"No!" She said. He slashed the belt across her face and she fell to the cold floor again. He pulled her up again.
"I'm sorry?"
"Do I have to say it louder?" She snapped at him. He chucked her on the table and took them off himself. Then he pulled down his own pants.*
Ellie was shaking. She couldn't believe what had just happened. The man held a gun to her head and took her into another room. In that room was a beaten up Glenn and a topless Maggie. When Ellie walked in she could tell by the looks on their faces that she was bad as well. Especially as she was standing there naked. Maggie began to sob amd Glenn rushed forward but stopped when everyone pointed their guns at him.
"We're through with games," the man growled as he threw Ellie on the floor, "now one of you is going to give up your camp."
He pointed his gun at Maggie then Glenn, "the prison!" Maggie sobbed.
Ellie looked at the floor. It wasn't worth it, she thought. She couldn't stand the rest of the conversation, so she cried silently into the dirt. All of the men left. Leaving Maggie, Glenn and Ellie in a room again. At least this time they were together which Ellie thought was good. The man that had tortured Ellie was called the Governor, that's what Glenn told her as he sat there with no shirt on. He had given it to Maggie. Ellie had to find her own clothes, there weren't any so she wrapped herself in a mouldy, moth eaten table cloth. Maggie and Glenn were holding each other on one side of the room while Ellie curled up in the opposite corner.
"They're gonna kill us, aren't they." Ellie said.
"I don't know." Glenn told her.
"They no longer have use for us, what else would they do?"
"I'm sorry," Maggie croaked. "I didn't mean to snap."
"It's fine, Maggie," Ellie murmured, "it was bound to happen sooner of later."
Glenn stood up and lumbered over to the dead walker that Merle had left him in the room. He stood on its chest and ripped its arm off, before cracking the arm itself and pulling out two deadly looking bones.
"Impressive," Ellie muttered sarcastically. Glenn bent down to rip the other one off but Ellie stopped him. "It's fine, Glenn," She held up a six inch nail she had been pulling from the wall for the last hour. Her hands were bloody and stung like hell, but that was nothing compared to the searing pain pulsing through her back. One of her eyes was still blurry, so she guessed it was swollen.
It wasn't long before she could hear Merle's voice outside the door. It was faint but she recognised it. She motioned to Glenn and Maggie to get up. They did, and the three of them crept to the door. It took a couple of moments but she heard a creek and the door flung open. Glenn and Maggie jumped out first, Glenn went straight for Merle, Maggie to the guy next to him. Ellie went for another man who was taking the rear.
She pounced on him and tackled him to the ground. She sank the nail straight into his eye. When she couldn't push it in any further she got up and pushed it in with her foot the man stopped screaming and went limp. She grabbed his gun and pointed it at the door.
"Let him go!" She heard Maggie cry. Ellie turned around and saw Merle holding his knife-hand to Glenn's throat. Ellie trained her gun on Merle.
"Get your hands off him!" she spat. Merle grinned and Ellie spun around again. The man she shot before was pointing a large machine gun at her. He hit her in the face with the butt of the gun, she tumbled backwards with a new found pain and more blood rushing out of her nose.
"Get up!" Merle snapped. Ellie glared at him and spat out some blood. She pulled the sheet tighter around her so it wouldn't fall down. She slowly pulled herself up off the ground.
When she did she was face to face with Merle. She would've contained her rage if it wasn't for his jackass smirk that was strung across his face. So she punched him. When he straightened up she smirked back at him because his nose was bleeding as well. He punched her hard in the ribs. She knew it was coming, what else would she expect from Merle. She doubled over and spat out more blood.
"This isn't how I like a woman to go down on me," Merle smirked, "get up."
"Go to hell," Ellie growled. He let out a chuckle and grabbed her aggressively by the armpit. They were all made to stand on their knees whilst their hands were bound again. Ellie didn't bother struggling, she was too sore. She heard Glenn mumble comforting words to a crying Maggie next to her. Ellie said a goodbye to Carl and her dad in her head. Then her vision was blocked when someone covered her face with an awful smelling bag. They were forced to stand up once more and trudge forwards with the men at their sides to block any attempts to escape. This is it, Ellie though, I'm going to die. She knew this day would come but she thought it was going to be walkers not ...people.
Suddenly she heard a rattle, a small explosion and some yells of shock. Smoke wafted into her nose.
