Tonight, Leila shows. She doesn't look as gloomy as when she stormed off the other night, but there was still a semi-annoyed look on her face. Her tiny button nose was scrunched up as she moved her mouth the side.

"I'm sorry Leila." I genuinely apologise. She shakes her head.

"It's fine. I kind of overreacted. A lot."

I smile. "For once, you admit you're not right?"

"Yeah. You're still a douche." She confirms what must be her thoughts, but she laughs so I know she's only joking.

"The stars are out tonight." I observe, looking up. "You must be happy."

Leila grins. "I'm happy. I met a guy and I think I really like him, I think."

All of a sudden, a tight feeling in my chest pulls all my muscles together. "Oh... Really? He- He must be pretty special."

"Yeah. His name is Blake. He works in the milkshake place in town."

"Shaking It Up?" I question her, trying to work out where he works. Leila nods, still in her own little world.

"He better take you on a great date."

"Gourmet macaroni and cheese." Leila laughs, her eyes as bright as the shining stars above us. Obviously, she liked this guy quite a lot. She deserves the guy, I guess. He sounds decent – and obviously she trusts him. You can tell a lot by a person's eyes, I've noticed.

Shame I didn't know this when I was with Ellie.

"Sounds great," I croak out. "You better not ditch me though. It gets cold out here."

"I won't ditch you, I promise. That'd be rude. Oh. You're going to call me a hypocrite now, aren't you? I only ditched you last night because I was annoyed with you."

I laugh. "You're so cute when you're nervous. It's fine – I deserved the runny nose I got."

Leila grins. "Well, I suppose so. But really, Chase, th-this guy is so amazing. I've known him for five minutes – but he's the type of person who makes you feel special."

Do I not make you feel special?

"He's like... the rainbow at the end of a thunderstorm. The splash of colour in a black and grey room. The star in the pitch black sky."

And as Leila talked about this guy, I realised that the tight feeling in my stomach, the raging pang in my body was... jealousy.
