*Averys POV*
"Avery your brothers are going to leave without you if you don't hurry up," my mother shouts at me from downstairs. Opening another box I find a lack of lacrosse equipment. Letting out a frustrated sigh I push my hair out of my face.
"It would be easier if knew which box all my equipment is in," I mutter searching the last box in my room. Finally I grab my lacrosse stick and bag out of the box. Running down the stairs I pull my long brown hair out of my face and into a very messy bun.
"I've told you I hate moving right," I told my mom for the fifteenth time today while pulling my green zigs out of yet another box and sliding them on my feet.
"Look on the bright side we aren't moving in the middle of the school year," my mom reminds me just like she has the other fifteen times I've complained. Yes she is right moving in July is a lot better than in may, I know from experience. My dad owns a chain of restaurants so we have to move where ever he gets a new one
"Hurry your ass up Avery we're going to be late for our last game of the season," Cam yells at me. I roll my eyes but head out the door towards the truck. Its technically my truck because I am the oldest but apparently being the oldest of triplets doesn't count for anything, especially when your a triplet with two boys.
Hopping in the back I notice Cams curly hair sticking out from under his DC flat cap in the drivers seat. Him and Ryan look quite different. Cam has dark brown hair like me but its curly meanwhile mine and Ryan both have straight hair. Ryans hair is a dirty blonde like our moms that he keeps short with the front spiked up. Me and Ryan both have blue eyes too but Cams are gray. Also with Ryan being nearly 4 inches taller than Cam and a lot buffer than him people always think he's a year older than us.
"Apparently the team in Waterloo sucks balls," I tell them fixing my hair so that it'll fit into my helmet.
"Well that'll change when we get there won't it," Cam says with his usual cocky attitude. I nod but I keep worrying about if dad will make me play field lacrosse instead of box with my brothers. " I don't think he'll make you play field your way to rough for it."
"Dang I said my thoughts out loud again didn't I? " Ryan responds with a chuckle while Cam nods.
Ten minutes later we arrive at the arena and grab our equipment out of the back. Waving to some of the guys on the team I head to the girls change room with Jasmine who has been my best friend since I moved to toronto and the only other girl on the team. After getting changed and having a long chat about the party tonight we went to meet the rest of our team on the floor.
"So every one knows this is our last game of the season after this game we'll either be champions or not. Give it your all," Coach tells us after a quick practice.
"Nervous?" somebody asks from behind me, I turn to see Josh I nod trying to stop bouncing on the balls of my feet like I always do when I'm nervous. He gives me a quick hug before going to left wing, his starting position. I head up to centre and get into position in front of a large guy from the other team. He gives me an obnoxious smirk and crashes his stick to the ground hard enough that the stick nearly snaps under the pressure.
"The bigger they are the harder they fall," I mumble to myself crouching down and prepare to win the first face off of the game. The referee sets the ball down in between our sticks, the whistle blows and I flick my stick out successfully trapping the ball in my net running up I pass it off to Blake who misses the ball, the other team getting it.
Its fourth quarter with only a minute left and we're winning 6-5, Josh gets hit in the back of the head meaning we've got a power play . After getting a drink I head back onto the floor since I'm on the power play line. Ryan passes me the ball from behind I run it up the centre before passing it to Blake who takes a shot right as the shot clock goes off.
I run back to the bench realizing too late that its still a power play "crap" I mutter.
Shrugging I watch Cam flawlessly steal the ball from the other team. he dodges passed the other players and passes the ball to Drew, who scores. seconds after the game ended, but we've still won the championship!
Excited I jump over the side and join the rest of the team on the floor. After hugging Ryan I turn to give Cam a bone crushing hug to find he's not even there.
Swivelling I find him on the ground on the other side of the rink with his helmet off his head, fear jolts up my spine.
Bolting over I realize he's out. Crouching beside him I see the slight rise and fall of his chest "Come on Cam, wake up," I scream at him knowing its useless and that he can't here me.
Suddenly I'm pushed out of the way by the paramedics. Feeling myself being pulled up I watch through blurry eyes the paramedics take Cam out of the arena on a stretcher.
"We need to get in the truck," Ryan tells me shaking my shoulders. I look up at him he quickly turns away from me but not before I see the tears welling up in his blue eyes spill down his cheeks. Knowing he's right I follow him to the truck.
