they find a beach, white sand.
sky is pale, a clear view.
one girl, a man in black.
and it's all outlined in blue.
the girl and the man talk about her past.
he never interrupts unless asked...
the drugs, the parties, introduced by kyle.
that night everything got too wild.
waking up bloodied and naked.
men lying around unconscious.
running out in the middle of the street.
terrified, wearing nothing.
a supposed best friend snapping a photo.
right after she'd take the girl home.
the whole school echoing slut, whore, prostitute.
spending lunches in the bathroom.
downing the pills that should have ended it.
instead that'd land her in the "asylum."
and when she came out, the world was black.
restarted at homeschool, lockdown, lockout.
books became her best friends; the world became her enemy.
no one could ever get her to join it again—no money.
until she would leave.
and keep leaving.
if she had to.
but was the horizon ever blue?
because the girl still hadn't found it.
maybe it's just not permanent.
man in black says that anyway.
and then he asks her to stay.
