I tossed and turned. My body was on fire. I tried to kick the blankets off.

Hard footsteps woken me. Darius entered the room. His dark hair were jagged to peaks with styling gel as he always wore it. His jacket was stained. Crimson red liquid dripped from his mouth corners. He came nearer and neared before I noticed his pupils changing colour. His mouth fell open and deathly white fangs flicked out.

My heart beat was in my throat. My legs numbed. I clutched fists of sheets and all of a sudden a cold wind blew over me.

My eyes flew open. Chris stood next to the bed. We almost hit our heads when I sat up straight.

“Did you have a nightmare sweetheart?” Chris asked and stroked my hair.

“Yes.” I smiled at him. Thank goodness my hero was home.

I sneaked a peak at my reflection in the bathroom mirror. Dark circles underneath my eyes. Deathly pale. No wonder Chris looked like he saw a ghost. I took a quick shower and applied lifting cream underneath my eyes. There’s already an improvement. I drank the medicine the doctor prescribed.

I dressed in my white robe. My skin was whiter than the robe. I applied a bit of make –up. It won’t make tings better, but it will convince Chris that I am going to be just fine.

“Wow, Doctor Almquist created a phenomenon! You look almost fantastic again!” He said and his down face lifted into a new sunrise.

“The doctor was here?” I asked and looked stunned. Almquist?

“Yes, he phoned me to tell you that you had been asleep when he gave you a serum and some pain killers.” He said from the balcony door. I walked to him and hugged him. I need assurance that I will live and that I will survive.

“I was terrified, I thought I was loosing you.” He said and held me tightly. His heart beat fast against his chest.

“I won’t leave you.” I said and held him tighter. He held me tight for several minutes.

I pulled away and sat back down on the bed. He threw his suitcase on the settee and unfastened his tie.

“Did you have any meetings today?” I asked and sat as he removed the delicate knot.

“Yes, I am playing this Saturday.” He said and smiled.

“I’m so proud of you!” I said and hugged him.

“I don’t know whether I should go and play. I didn’t practise this week.” He said and walked into the closet.

“I’m sure you’ll be great.” I said and fell back unto the bed.

“I can come and watch. I know you would outrun all of them.” I said and winked at him.

“Not sure. Couch said I definitely need to play and the team is counting on me, you know.” He sounded so discouraged.

“I’ll be there Saturday. I’ll be the one cheering out loud for you.” I said and stared at the cream ceiling.

“Are you sure? You can always stay home and rest...” He said wearily.

“No. I’m not staying home. I have had enough rest.” I said and sat up straight. “I can’t just watch my life go past me.” I said and opened the door to the balcony. It was a jet black night with all the million stars blinking at me. Hi warm hand touched my shoulder.

“I am sorry.” He said and hugged me from behind. “I just want to see you healthy and well.” Tears filled my eyes and slowly made a path on my cheeks. I am fine, it’s not stress and I am sure of it.

I kept starring into the distant darkness as thou I could see what was going on. I leaned back against him.

“ I am frightened.” I said and shut my eyes. The tears made a million rivers all forming a pool underneath my chin. Chris turned me around and forced me to face him.

“Nothing is going to happen to you. All right? I will make sure off that. It’s going to be me and you and perhaps an entire family in the future, forever. You hold on to that. I love you so much.” He said and drilled into my eyes. He lifted my chin up and leaned down. His warm lips covered mine in harmony. He pulled me closer to him until I could feel every muscle in his chest moving. My arms found its way around his neck and my fingers entwined in his hair. He crouched down and picked me up. I hooked my ankles behind his back as he carried me into our bedroom.
