Chapter 1

Rayne POV

After walking aimlessly through the castle gardens I decided to head back to the city because no

matter how tranquil it was I still couldn't solve any of my life changing problems. While walking back

I readjusted my belt and checked that my midnight blue breeches weren't dirty and undid my hair

from it's plait so that it fell around my knees.

I should probably introduce myself, my name is Rayne Asrathiel and I am the newly coronated

Crown Princess of the kingdom Haywood and just like the Queen of the elves and faeries, I am a

Rilfe ( I better explain what that is). To solve a conflict between the faeries and elves many

hundreds of years ago the Queen of the Faeries and King of the Elves and had a child, a Rilfe, a

half faerie/ half elf breed almost completely unique to the royal family, thing is I'm even more unique

than that.

My life changing problem is that as the eldest child I am to be sent away to train and lead the Royal

Rilfe Squad, the main issue is that my older brother, Gabriel Rostra, was supposed to be the

leader of this unique squadron but he died in a terrible accident a year before he was supposed to

take command and now the responsibility has fallen to me, but can i do it?

Chapter 2

As I walk through the main entrance into the palace and as soon as my feet hit the flagstone floor

servants swarmed me trying to assisst, one young servant (who was obviously new) removed my

cloak revealing my blue wings. All the servants quickly stepped away from me as I took my cloak

back from the baffled servant and swept through the palace to my rooms at a quick pace muttering

"fool, I have one rule....do not go near my clothing.........everyone saw my wings, I knew I shouldn't

have gone out today.

Once safely in my rooms I got rid of my cloak and went to look in my fllor to ceiling mirror. Carefully

looking at my reflection I unfurled my wings and had a close look. They were a mixture of three

colors( white, darkest blue and baby blue) and looked just like a butterflies with whorls and swirls

on them. These were the reason I was special even within my unique race, the reason why people

stared as I walked past, I am the only Rilfe since the first born to ever have wings. All the others

resembled elves with only small indications like the sharpness in their nose, eyes and chin to

show they weren't full blood elves. It wasn't like anyone had never seen a faerie before as they were

all over the kingdom but because of my wings, I became an oddity.

Sighing to myself I decided to get ready to meet the Rilfe Squadron in an hour and walked into the

bathroom to put my hair up.

..................................1 hour later...................

After changing my shirt, again (i spilt face cream on it) I got my white and blue belt that my dad, King

Leon, gave me to cheer me up after the servant incident

......................(what happened with her dad).............

King Leon was very sympathetic towards his eldest daughter because he knew how hard it had

been for his wife, Queen Serenade, who although she did not have wings had had a hard time

fitting in with others. He had only one piece of advice for his daughter

Leon: " Rayne, no matter what is different about you, your mum and I will always love you"    :D

Rayne frowned at this but smiled as she saw her father looking

Rayne: " I had better get to the squadron room to meet the others dad, Bye"
