"That's game." I say walking away dramatically after draining a 3.
"Yo, Lo you sure you aren't a boy?" asks Marcus.
"Well last time I checked I was a girl, but that was last time I checked so who can be sure?" I say smiling.
"Shit, what time is it? I have to be home to help for dinner." I say while picking up my gym bag and walking out the door.
Well not quite. I didn't make it out the door before running smack into someone.
"Oh god, I'm so so- " I try to say before I see his face. I can already feel my face heating up, he's so cute.
"It's okay," he says with a smile. "I'm guessing this is the gym?"
"Yeah how'd you know?" I joke casually, while freaking out on the inside.
"Cute girl with a gym bag, I think I'm at the right place. Oh, I'm Eli by the way." He says extending his hand.
"Lauren," I reply, shaking it.
I catch a glimpse of the clock and suddenly remember why I did run into this perfect stranger. Well, he's not a stranger anymore.
"Sorry, I gotta go, but maybe I'll see you around..?" I say walking backwards towards the front of the school.
"I sure hope so," he calls after me.
I sprint out the door to my car smiling as I unlock to door. And my smile doesn't fade the whole ride home.
----------------------------------------------
"MOM," I call out as I walk in the front door.
"I'm so sorry I'm late I-" I start saying as I walk into the kitchen.
"Oh, uh, hello...?" I greet the man in our kitchen.
"Hey, Lauren! Long time no see," he says standing to shake my hand.
"Hey, Coach Auriemma, good to see you."
Yes, I mean Geno Auriemma. The coach of UCONN, also known as the #1 girls basketball school in the country, is at my house.
"Lauren, why don't you go wash up for dinner, it'll be ready in 10." My mom says.
"Okay," I reply before walking upstairs.
I throw my gym back on the bed before heading to the bathroom to jump in the shower. I sigh contently and turn on the water, this day could not have been better.
After my shower I come downstairs to see my family eating already. (My family being my mom, sister, and brother. My parents got divorced when I was 10)
"Sorry, Lo. We were starving!" My sister, Taylor, says dramatically.
"Whatever," I say pretending to be offended, but pushing her head to the side so she knows I'm kidding.
I fill up my plate and take a seat across from Coach Auriemma. The night is filled with talking and laughing, half about basketball and half about other things.
After dinner I help with dishes and head up to my room exhausted. I lay in bed smiling as I think about what happened today. But, not for long considering I fall asleep like 2 minutes later.
