Tris's Pov

"Tris!" a voice calls out to me. I turn around a see Tyler running up to me.

"Hey" I say with a smile on my face. "Where's Bailey?"

"She's at home. Bailey's not allowed to go out because of her broken ankle," Tyler says solemnly.

"Then we should go give her a visit. By the way, I haven't introduced you to my friend. His name is Four." I give Four a look, as if trying to pass on a message be friendly with him Tobias. It seems to work because he kneels down a little bit to shake Tyler's hand, and carries a small conversation with him.

We all make our way to Bailey's house to give her a visit, and I can increasingly sense Tyler's excitement to see her. For a ten year old he sure does have a huge crush on her. "So Tyler, how'd you and Bailey meet?" i decide to start a conversation, hoping it would calm him down.

"We met when we were little kids. We've always been neighbors and we just said to each other "You're my friend now."" Tyler replies, his excitement being replaced with nostalgic memories. "Four, how did you and Tris meet?"

"We were childhood friends. I guess in the sense that you and Bailey are childhood friends. Our parents were friends with one another and introduced us to each other and we instantly became friends." Tobias says kindly.

I remember exactly what he was talking about. My father bringing me up to Marcus's house to meet him and his son, Tobias, how we instantly clicked, and how fast and how close we became to each other. Suddenly a wave a sadness washes over me because we're nothing like that now. Our small conversations slowly dissipate as we get closer and closer to Bailey's house. As I walk inside, something catches my eye. A small picture displayed in a frame shows a picture of my mother and Edith. Instantly I wonder what could have happened between them because they look so happy in each other's presence. I look away, and greet Bailey, momentarily forgetting that Tobias is with me.

"Hey Bailey, how's your ankle?"

"It's getting better, but I wish this cast was gone."

"It'll be off in no time. I'm getting this off tomorrow, actually." I say while pointing to my cast.

"I still have a month and a half left! That's long!" She says with a pouty face.

"Poor thing, I promise you'll be getting that cast off before you know it, but I have to go now." I reply smiling.

Tobias and I walk out of Bailey's house, and continue walking to nowhere in particular. "Sorry about that, that was Tyler and Bailey. I recently found out that Bailey is my cousin.."

"Really?" I get as a response.

"Yeah, I wish I met her in a different situation though."

"What happened?" Tobias inquires.

"You probably know. So Peter and his friends happened, and I ran into them on the way home. Bailey had a broken ankle so her mom took them to the hospital but then she made me get checked out too, and that's where I got this," I say, avoiding certain details.

"You shouldn't have to go through this, you know. No one deserves to get beat up or put down just because you're the new person here," Tobias says solemnly.

"I don't have a choice because everyone already seems to hate me anyway."

"You know that's not true Tris."

We go back and forth with him trying to convince me that I'm not some weird freaky new girl that everyone hates. Ultimately, everything he says is pointless because it's not going to change anyone else's opinion about me. Once it starts getting dark out, he walks me home and I say a farewell.
