Punishment

I was at the police department in the matter of just minutes. I walked through the door and stood in front of the desk. A man about fifty, was shuffling through papers, sending them flying. He looked rushed and angry, maybe this is a bad time.

"Hello, what can I do for you?" He finally picked his head up, obviously still frustrated.

"Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me who reported the sighting of wolves?" I asked, gulping as I said it. This is totally suspicious.

"Wait a minute... aren't you the girl I stopped from going into the woods?" His eyebrows raised in slight confusion. Crap, it is the same man!

"Yes, that's me." I slightly smiled.

"Well isn't it a small world." He chuckled.

"So, why is it you need to know who reported the sighting of wolves?" He asked, crossing his arms on his chest.

"Well you see, my boyfriend says his brother reported but his brother is on some really weird allergy meds that make him hallucinate." I started out with the first lie that came to my head, which was actually brilliant.

"Was this boy by any chance, Tall, skinny, brown hair that stopped at his ears, and a dimple right here?" I pointed to just above my lip.

"Wow, yes actually." The man was astonished.

"And you swear he's on some crazy medication?" He asked.

"Yes, I swear." I lied straight to his face. I lied to a cop, oh my gosh.

"Well if that's the case, we can take down the warning. It's people like you, that we look up to. Thank you for your bravery." The cop smiled and held out his hand for me to shake.

"No problem sir." I smiled and shook his hand.

There, now everyone can live in damn peace and I can finally have my happy ever after. I left the station and went back to Charlie's grandparent's. I found him still sitting by the fire ring, head hanging low, the rain hitting him. I silently took a seat next to him and wrapped my arm around him and brought him close to me.

"I believe you." I whispered.

"Yea, after you had to ask the authorities." He let go from my embrace.

"You don't trust me." It was more of a statement, rather a question.

"It was just a lot to wrap around my head." I admitted.

"And you don't think, you telling me you're a wolf, wasn't hard to wrap around my head?" He said, standing up from the log with his hands in his jacket pocket.

"I should be the one who should have trust issues, not you." He was starting to yell and I felt my heart starting to crumble.

"And even my brother saw them, still makes me think he was hallucinating." He shook his head. His last word caught me off guard and I started trembling. That was my lie.

"Well that's what the cops think too, so you're not alone." I smacked my mouth when I realized what I had just admitted to.

"THEY WHAT?" He turned around, screaming.

"I told them that Elliot is on some weird allergy medication that makes them hallucinate so they would take down the wolf warning. I needed to save my pack, I'm the alpha."

"Wow, you're the same Skyler Jennings back from Montana. You always have to save your ass and no one else's." He shook his head again, but he was absolutely correct. I'm a selfish pathetic excuse for a human being, but I'm not even that, I'm a stupid dog.

"Yea.... we can't be together,  I don't care how much it will hurt you. I don't love you." He said, going back into the house.

And then right there, I felt my world crumble into a black hole. Now that I've lost my imprint, I'm going back to the fur growing everywhere. I may never be a human again.

~~~~~~
I plopped down onto the sofa and looked out the bay window. The rain was finally clearing up and there was a rainbow forming. The birds were coming back out and chirping. They must be so happy. Why can't I be happy? I'm apart of nature too. I've failed at life. I'm just some selfish werewolf who is trying to find love.
"Why so glum, little sis?" Cam sat on the edge of the sofa's arm.
"You should be glued to Charlie's hip right now on a date or something." He laughed.
The name Charlie, stung. It was like being stabbed a million times in the back, the pain went up my back and back down, never ending.
"Sky?" He got off the arm and slid down beside me.
"Nothing will ever be the same again." I spoke, not making eye contact.
"What do you mean? What won't ever be the same?"
"My life." I said, so close to a whisper and stood up from the sofa, going into my room and slamming the door with a loud thud.
I sat down on my bed and put my earphones into my ears. I hit shuffle and closed my eyes, landing softly on my pillow.
~DREAM~
This boy and I were laying down in a beautiful bed of flowers. We looked up at the beautiful sky, naming the clouds like they were our kids. We giggled with every weird name we came up with. He tickled me on my hip, my most ticklish spot. I screamed in laughter as he gently rubbed his finger in circles on my body.
"I love you princess." He whispered, kissing me lightly on my lips.
"I love you more." I giggled, kissing him gently back.
~End of dream~
I flew up, pulling my earphones out of my ears. I just had a dream about my imprint. I couldn't put a face to him though. My heart rate started to increase, I felt my breathing starting to change. The never ending pain has returned. I screamed in horror as the pain reached my leg, numbing me and my thoughts. My family came rushing in and I couldn't focus on anything, the pain was worst than last time. This time, both legs at the same time were inflicted with pain. I grabbed hold of both of my legs and screamed. Gabe and Hunter each took a side of me, holding me back. Cam stood next to mom, rubbing her back, trying to sooth her. She was crying hysterically, she hates to see us in pain.
"Hold still, it's almost over." Gabe yelled. How would he know?
And the pain subsided and all I felt was numb. I sighed in relief and looked down at my legs. They were both coated in fur down to my ankles. It was like punishment for imprinting on Charlie.
