The Stevens moved out last year due to financial problems. They lived directly beside us, since our houses were connected. My family were pretty close with them, we did everything together, but surprisingly my parents, not even me, seemed to be bothered about their sudden move. I guess we weren't so close after all. Anyways, I heard it from Mom, for a long time but someone has finally decided to move in the house. My mom gets pretty excited when we get new people in town. She even makes welcome cookies. I admit I'm tired of coming up to houses and welcoming them, like they were very important to us. Which they aren't. I try not coming along from time to time- okay, I try to decline everytime but Mom ends up forcing me to come. And oneday, she started making a new batch of cookies. Which meant the neighbors were finally moving in.
Just like always, I was forced to come along. I expected nothing really, a normal family who decided to find a bigger house. Wasn't that normal? Or maybe I was expecting too little, I don't know.
But that's where I'm standing right now. About to meet the them.

Knock, knock.
"Jay, get that please!" Dad yells at me, too busy to answer the door.
I close my book, and hurry to the entrance.
Knock, knock.
I open the door.A guy and a lady, I think the guy's mom. What are they doing here?
"Oh, Hi. We're your new neighbors, we just want to welcome you guys to this neighborhood." The Lady says.
"You live at the connected house, beside us?" I ask.
"Yup, uhh... We just want to give you guys cookies." She hands over a package.
"Oh, thanks."
I look at the guy, quickly observing him. Dark brown hair, blue eyes, thin body but his arms had some muscles showing through. He looked like one of those fashion models in the magazines my mom reads.
"Are you by chance schooling in Motview highschool?" The lady asks.
"Yeah."
She puts her right arm around her son's shoulders. "He is too! How old are you, if you don't mind me asking?"
"15." I answer, starting to get bored.
"Oh my gosh, you guys might see each other in a class!" The lady pauses, waiting for my reaction but continues afterwards. "Excuse my manners, I haven't introduced myself, or my son. I'm Maia, but call me Mrs. Marwit," She turns to her son, "And this is James."
I nod, my boredom not satisfied. I pretend to smile, finding a way to get out of the conversation, "Sorry, Mrs. Marwit. I got to ready my room."
"Okay, nice talking to you." Mrs. Marwit says, almost making me feel bad for not talking longer.
