Cayde chased a fleeing Taniks through the Ketch. The mercenaries attempts to defeat the Hunter Vanguard had gone poorly so far, but Taniks was not without his tricks.
He had torn through every complication with ease, dregs, vandals and captains lay dead, servitors and shanks were broken into pieces. Taniks had even modified shanks to explode, snipe, or have machine guns. But Taniks had something else. He had a walker.
And that walker had been giving Cayde a very hard time. It's constant suppressive fire had kept Cayde confined to the back quarter of the room. He was starting to get annoyed.
Cayde sighed, "Ghost, any weaknesses in this walker?"
"Negative, it seems this walker has gained infamy for its shielding, the House of Wolves have used it on numerous occasions during the Reef Wars, to great success." Cayde summoned his Golden Gun, taking shots at the Walkers leg. Nothing happened.
"Variks, i've got a walker here that seems to be invincible, anything you know about it that can help me?"
"That Walker? Nothing can destroy it's armor, it's too strong. And don't try and think of sneaking past it, Taniks created it using a salvaged warmind as the walkers brain."
Cayde looked around, frustrated. The Walker was sitting right in front of the door. There was something he knew would work but it was to risky to actually attempt.
"I have an idea, it's risky though." Cayde explained the idea to Variks.
"You have a death wish my friend." Variks sounded unsurprised. Cayde's ghost nodded in agreement.
Cayde grabbed the Scorch Cannon off of his back and aimed it at the Walkers feet. He charged it up as far as he could, and then he blew a hole in the ship.
What happened next was chaos. The Walker strained to hold on to the ship, but was ultimately torn out by the vacuum, as well as dozens of containers and equipment that Cayde suspected was very expensive, he didn't care, he was too busy holding on for dear life.
"You are completely insane!" his Ghost shrieked.
The Ketch was starting to sink from the giant hole. Cayde saw many parts of the ship start to fold in on itself. He held on for dear life to a control panel when the Ketch's nose started to point towards the surface of the moon. Everything started to slide down.
"Uh, oh." Cayde let go of the panel, sliding through the door, he navigated the corridors with ease until he had slid right into the ships reactor chamber.
Taniks was trying to fix the ship as best as he could, but the reactor was starting to give out. He turned as soon as Cayde entered.
"You!" he screamed, grabbing a Scorch Cannon off of his back. "This is your fault, you destroyed everything I have worked for! Why did you do this?"
Cayde aimed his Sniper Rifle at Taniks' head. "You killed Andal Brask, my mentor, my friend. For him you shall die, as well as for the other countless guardians you have murdered, and the House of Judgement as well!"
"Prepare to join that list!" Taniks fired the Scorch Cannon wildly.
"A verdict has been reached, you are sentenced to execution." Cayde changed his aim, shooting the reactor core. The explosion sent Taniks flying.
Cayde walked to where the Fallen mercenary lay, and shot him twice in the head for good measure.
He breathed a sigh of relief, and exited the Ketch through the giant whole in the wall.
"It is done." Variks breathed a sigh of relief, and Cayde could tell his friend was happy.
Cayde surveyed the wreckage of the Ketch, it would be very hard to explain this to the Vanguard.
"Zavala's going to put me through hell for this."
