I lay in my bed once again, filled to the brim with excitement. A date. With her it was like a dream come true. Tomorrow was the big day. As with most teenage boys, unclean thoughts started to take over my brain. "Don't get ahead of yourself." I whispered, closing my eyes for the night.
She met me in the field by our houses under the big oak tree. "Hey!" She greeted me. She looked much better. The colour had completely returned to her face and her eyes were bright and full of life. We hugged and sat on the grass. We sat there for hours, talking about our lives and life in general. We clicked so well, it was perfect. After a while I pulled out a bag I had brought with me and presented sandwiches. It sounds boring and sappy but to me it was absolutely wonderful. We sat and giggled the afternoon away, and after a while she put her head on my shoulder. When it started to go home she jumped up. "We gotta go!" She cried. She pecked me on the cheek and started to run.
For months that was the way it was. We'd talk about our futures, our days, stuff that bothered us. No matter how bad things were, we always ended up in giggle fits. We made each other feel better. Five months into the relationship, however, we both realized how serious it was getting.
I woke up to my phone ringing. I picked it up and looked at the time. 4:00 am. I answered it, trying my best to sound awake. "What's up?" I asked into the phone. "I need you!" Her voice came from inside the speaker. "Meet me at the oak tree." In about fifteen seconds I had completely dressed myself and ran out the door. When I arrived at the oak tree she was slumped down beside it. "Come here." She called, just loud enough that I could hear. I stumbled through the wet grass towards her. It was just bright enough outside that I could see a large bruise over her left eye. My stomach felt like it was trying to turn inside out. "What happened!?" I asked, worried about where she had gotten the bruise from. "It doesn't matter." She said shakily. "Just kiss me." My stomach didn't settle down. I blinked blankly at her. "What?" I asked in disbelief. "Kiss me!" She said, and grabbed the back of my neck. Before I knew it, her lips were locked on mine. A warm feeling crept down into my belly and I felt relieved, like a great weight was lifted. There we sat, under the oak tree that symbolized our love, and kissed until the sun came up.
