L x Light Death Note Fan-fic

Traveling....

Weeks have gone by, still no sign of Kira. Other smaller cases call for Lights attention. L seems to do his own thing. Misa shows up today.

"Light!" A high pitched voice echoes through the room. Light who is going through some papers rolls his eyes. He's working now why does she have to butt in. She runs up and hugs him from behind, right as L enters. He's eating ice cream it's been a few days since they've actually spoken.

"Ryuzaki. " Light waves, L glances his way but says nothing.

"Hiiii Ryuga! " Misa says loudly turning to L, again he says nothing.

"Its Ryuzaki, Misa don't you remember? " Light says taking a step back to organize his papers.

"Opps! Sorry. So Light I was thinking maybe we could go out to dinner and..." Light tuned out at this point as she babbles on, some other task force members leave the room. Watari walks in the room suddenly handing L the phone. He talks quietly and gets up to leave.

"I'm leaving everyone... I don't know for how long."

"What Ryuzaki why? We need you here!" Matsuda says desperately.

He keeps walking. Light walks to catch up to L.

"He's right Ryuzaki, we need you here you haven't even told us where you're going." L stops and looks right at Light.

"Why don't you come then." It was a statement not a question.

"Ryuzaki-" Watari protests.

"No, Watari let him come. After all," he says this staring off in the distance. "He is my friend. "

"Light looks back towards his work and begins to protest. L grabs his wrist and pulls him to the exit.

"Come Light they're waiting on us."

It was dead silent in the car, as the headed for the airport. It was a few minutes before anyone spoke.

"Ryuzaki, where are we going exactly? " Light looked over L states contently out the window. And mumbles something under his breath.
"Ryuzaki, I can hear you-"

"There it is again..." He says turning and staring dead in front of him.

"There what is again?" Light asks. L turns towards him.

"The bell."
