I stand here, waiting for the raging flames to engulf my petit body. With the crowd chanting for the match to be lit, I say my final words.

"I will escape death, I will escape death," I repeatedly mutter under my breath. My voice growing louder, with more power and strength each time. The crowd's powerful chants start to wither. With one final breath I yell the loudest I can, "I WILL ESCAPE DEATH!"

One simple wave was all it took for the lumber around my feet to engulf in flames. A burning sensation travels from my feet, up my clothes and to my face. Not one hair is lost. Not one thread is burnt. With a small smirk, I wait for the flames to wither.

After a while, the chants, cries, and screams of victory disperse as the crowds leave. All that is left is me and the vast country as my surrounds. With a small village in the distance busily at work, I slip out of the loose metal encasing and dust myself free of ash.

One last look back at my old home was all that it took for me to run. They found out. All it took was for one small action to irritate me further than last.

The vast country has turned into the dense forestry where I used to play in as a child. But now is not the time to reminisce.

Swerving around trees, large and thin, I come to a halt.

The Edge

I've never been beyond the edge. It's always been forbidden to go further, it's forbidden to go beyond Pheonic Tree let alone The Edge.

One hesitant step forward and I'm in the unknown. I expected an amount of pressure and fear to lie upon my shoulders but nothing came.

The urge to run soared through my body, my steps quickening, the adrenaline rushing through my veins, like the water plummeting from the ridiculous heights of a waterfall. My heart pounding at a speed only once discovered.

Sometimes I wish I could fly, or teleport maybe. But that's never going to happen. Sure, I can escape death. But not all methods of death can I survive.

The Mountains, that's where I need to go. No one's ever been to the mountains. That means no one will be there.

The wind weaving through my knotted, brown hair and the melodic beat of another pair of feet hitting the ground bring me back from my thoughts. Slowing down the pace of my calloused feet to a stop, the sound of running footsteps blur past me.

Nothing. There is nothing around me, no one except me. Feeling like an idiot, I stop turning around in circles.

A hand slaps across my mouth and another grabs my arm from behind. I let out a small scream, but it's useless.

Within seconds, my breathing is short; a small tear slips down my cheek. Fight or flight, life or death. I may be capable of fighting for my survival but I always choose flight, also known as death.

Death, one of the most terrifying things on the face of this planet. You never know when you're going to die; maybe today, maybe tomorrow. But I know when I am going to die. I can feel it. A certain type of energy soars through my purple arteries and entwines in my blood stream. I have encountered that feeling many times before. Let me tell you this, it is not pleasant.

"I've never seen you before," whispers a voice from behind, "maybe you should come with me?"

I shake my head vigorously at the cruel stranger holding me captive.

"It wasn't a question," he growls before harshly shoving me forward. I walk at an uneven pace due to my throbbing feet and the unnecessary tug by my capture. Only once did we stop, but only for the invisible man with extremely rough hands and a tight grip to rearrange his hold on me.

Only as the sun set behind the mountains, did we speed up. I cannot be out after dark. I must be restrained. The moon is like a fire to a moth. The way it sits in the sky makes me want to reach out and hold it in my hands. But I'm fearful of the creatures that lurk beneath it. I believe that he is too.

Soon, we approach a town filled with scattering people. Nearing a wooden gate, a figure slowly appears next to me. The small and lean figure was the least of my expectations.

"Who's this?" asked yet another rough voice once we arrived at the gate.

"Don't know, I found her running through Kailic territory."

"Take her to Albion, let him figure her out." With a painful shove, I was lead to a hut.

After being man-handled to sit on a rug in front of a man that looked of the age 90, the lean man explained why I was bought here.
