Her eyes open slowly to the light of the new day. They adjust to the sunlight as she gets up and make her way to the bathroom. Looking in the mirror she sees a girl with messy hair, red eyes and saggy pj's. But the girl in the mirrior still has that sparkle in her eyes. Like she's the happiest girl on the planet. And she is. And the reason for her happiness has a name:
Scott Hoying.
Elsa walks to her closet and spends the next five minutes to figure out what she's going to wear today. Finally she decides on het Pentatonix t-shirt, jeans and her blue sneakers. She showers, gets dressed and heads to the next task at hand, her hair.
"Tied back or leave it loose?" she speaks to thin air.
"Either way you'll look stunning." She hears a fimiliar voice behind her. She turns around to find Scott standing in the doorway smiling brightly at her.
"Oh, stop it." She chuckles.
"No, really. It's true." He says as he steps closer.
For a moment they just look at each other. They let their eyes and the silence speak for them like it has a million times before. Scott slowly moves closer and leans in for a soft kiss.
Elsa cant help but smile into the kiss. She knows he is all she wants, all she needs.
He pulls away and smiles. "What did I do to deserve you?"
Elsa smiles back. "I'm asking that question myself."
He pulls her in for a tight hug when they hear something behind them.
Correction: someone.
"Oh, hey Kirstie." Elsa greets her smiling.
"Hey. Uhm...breakfast is served." Kirstie replies.
"On our way." Scott says.
With that Kirstie nods and walks back to the kitchen. Scott turns to Elsa puzzled.
"I wonder what got her so down?"
Elsa knows. She feels like telling him, but hesitates. Sensing his concern and curiosity she takes a deep breath.
"It's me."
---------------
Kirstie, Avi and Kevin are seated at the breakfast table, eating and talking about tonight's concert. The last one for the SA leg of the tour. They're excited, they're nervous. And a little sad to think that this will be their last day here.
"Hey, where's Mitch?"Avi asks sduddenly.
"I called him, but looks like he's not in the mood for breakfast today." Kirstie says taking a bite of her toast.
Just then the door opens and Scott and Elsa comes out and join them. Kirstie takes a quick glance at the brown haired girl and sees just a faint smile forming on her lips. Questions start to form in her mind. Above all: what is going on?
"I'm gonna go check up on Mitch."Kirstie says as she gets up and pushes her chair in. She makes her way to Mitch's room and knocks on the door.
"Come in!" Mitch calls from inside.
Kirsite opens the door and finds Mitch sitting on his bed with his head in his hands. Closing the door she watches him. It's clear that he's confused.
"Today's the day, Mitch."
"I can't do it!!" Mitch turns to her. Kirstie puts her finger on her lips and points backwards. A gesture to keep it down. "Die mure het ore." as they say in Afrikaans.
"Scott is going to flip. I can't ruin our friendship and possibly end things between him and the one who he set his heart on. I nearly did that before and I hated seeing Scott like that."
"The truth hurts, Mitch."
"Yes and the truth is that you WANT them apart, am I right?"
Kirstie just stared at him. She made it clear that she was over it. But looks like Mitch can't be fooled.
"Just tell Scott, Okay. And today. Got it?" she snaps and walks out without giving Mitch a chance to say a thing.
Mitch closes his eyes and thinks of a plan. How is he going to break this to his best friend?
Why the hell did he get himself into this mess in the first place?
-----------
Scott walks down the hallway and turns right and opens the door. Kirstie, Kevin, Avi and Mitch are already waiting for him, but Elsa is nowhere to be seen.
"I want ya...your love...
And I can see your halo...
Your love..." the four sing as they wait for Scott until Kirstie sees him standing there. "Hey."
"Hey." Scott smiles. "Are you guys ready?"
"Definitely! We've kind of made a little something for Elsa. We'd love for you to join in though. But...where is she?" Kevin asks.
Scot shakes his head. There is sadness in his eyes. "I've been looking all over for her but I can't find her. I'm worried."
An awkward silence fills the room as the group takes this in. Mitch's mind is spinning. Should he go for it now? Should he wait? Scott is just a bout to go out when he comes to a decision.
"Scott!"
He stops and turns around.
"Can we talk in private? Please?"
Scott nods and they both head out and find a more isolated place, somewhere quieter. Once they get there Mitch can feel his heart racing, his stomach turning. What he's about to do will cause the end of their friendship. But honesty is the best policy.
He breathes in. "I have to tell you something."
Scott immediately senses something is wrong. Worry fills him and he feels like yelling. He manages to keep himself in check. Don't be afraid.
"What is it? Is it Elsa?"
Mitch is silent. No, I can't do this. No, I have to. He thinks to himself.
"Mitch! Speak up!" Scott's patience is getting lower by the minute.
The bomb drops:
"I'm in love with her. I'm in love with Elsa. YOUR Elsa."
--------
Its cold. Its getting dark. And I have no idea where I am.
I reach for my phone in my pocket, dial Scott's number. No answer.
Great.
Suddenly I'm startled by my phone ringing in my hand. The incoming call is from an unknown number. I answer.
"H-hello?"
The voice laughs. "Goodluck with finding your way back, honey. Not that you'll ever find your way back in this darkness. Plus your concussion. Ah well. Goodnight!"
Beep, beep, beep.
I try to get up and as I do I feel a sharp pain in my head which forces me to sit down again.
I call Lizzy up. Again nothing.
I'm lost. I'm alone. I just have to accept it.
I'm forgotten.
