Chapter 1: This is me!


"Amelia we are going to be late for school hurry up!" I heard from downstairs. Charlie is getting mad again. I dragged my school bag off my dusty old bed and shut the door to my bedroom behind me.
"Hey charlie!" I said as I draped my arms around her. We walked out the door and down the street singing tunes as we went. As we reached the road our school was down we stopped singing. We don't want to look like weirdos. We saw our friendship group over by the shelter and started to walk over. There I said hi to Hannah, Katie, Sarah, Chloe, Emily, Jack, Aaron, Frankie, Amy, Brittany and Ellie. After saying hi to everyone we had to start the school day.

My first two lessons where English and maths. What a drag! At break I had a argument with a girl called Nicole but who cares about her. I sat down next to Hannah and started talking about random things. I wasn't really paying attention. I thought about when I go home. My mum doesn't like me very much. She is a smoker and likes to use drugs every now and then but she is running out of money. My brother thinks we should sell stuff and mum thinks that is a really good idea. I dunno what they are gonna sell but all I know is they are acting really weirdly around me. Like they are trying to keep something from me. Which isn't very nice. 

My last subjects where science, history and drama. I hate being 15. You can soon leave school but you still have to stay here and do weird and hard work. When I grow up I want to be a primary school teacher. I dunno though I might not get a job. After the last bell went I met up with Charlie and started to walk home. We sang all the way home. She said goodbye to me and I hugged her goodbye. It is Friday so no school for 2 days! Yes! I put the key in the lock and slowly took a deep breath. Am I ready to go back to hell? I slowly turned the handle as I started to shake. I didn't like my house or my family but I will get through this I thought as I slowly pushed the door open.

Once inside I was greeted by my brother Terry. "Hey sis... um.... How are you today?..." See what I meant about acting strange. But I replied with a shrug which confuses my brother. I walked upstairs only to find my mother drunk at the top of the stairs. She was sitting there drunk and smoking. I stepped over her and headed to my bedroom. I sat down at my desk and opened up my laptop. I logged on and started to do my homework. I sat there doing homework and listening to Taylor swift. Suddenly my mum bursts through the door and tells me to shut up I do as I am told. You would to if you had to deal with my mum when she is high and drunk.

My other brother was adopted. Terry is my real brother and Paul is my adopted brother but I treat Paul the same as I treat Terry if not better. Paul is 25 and lives with his girlfriend in America which is along way from us in England. Terry is 21 and the most annoying person. He is mean and ugly and he wonders why he hasn't found love. I could hear my brother shouting downstairs so told him to shut up. Bad idea! He stormed up the stairs and started beating me up. After hurting me he took my laptop and locked me in my room. He acts like my dad because my dad died 2 years ago and I miss him so. My brother overdosed him. 

So I am stuck in my room tonight with no laptop or food. Once again. This isn't the first time this has happened. I get into trouble a lot. My house seems tense at the moment. I think I am going to go to bed. My eyes started to get heavy and I yawned. Yep time to go to bed. I looked at the clock. 11pm. I got changed into the pj's I love. They say 'what ever happens you are a girl and you are forever strong!'. I got into bed and turned over before turning the light off. All I could hear downstairs was my brother Terry swearing and my mum on the landing drunk and high. I hate my family but I do love them sometimes...
