The next morning I got up and went to breakfast with everyone down in the restaurant at the hotel. I sat next to Olli and Sid and thankfully no one noticed that me and Beau weren't talking.
I wanted to talk to him but it was just so awkward and I didn't know what to say. I didn't even want to say anything, I just wanted to place my lips on his.
Stop Kolby, this isn't helping you forget about it.
"Kolby!"
"What, huh?" I looked up from my plate to see everyone staring at me. Downie, who had called my name, pointed to the waitress who was ready to take my order.
"Oh, sorry, um can I just have some more water?" Truth was, I wasn't even hungry. I needed to eat because we had practice in an hour and then the game at 3 but I wouldn't be able to hold anything down. She nodded her head and moved onto Olli, took his order and then left to place it.
"Kolby, you should really eat. We have practice in an hour."
I nodded my head at Duper in acknowledgement. "Yeah, I'm just not that hungry. I'm not feeling well." He went to say something else but I already knew what it was. "I'm fine. I'll be able to play, don't worry."
I could feel eyes on me and I looked down the table, catching Beau's eyes. He looked at me for a minute before looking down at his empty plate.
I did the same but again, I felt more eyes on me. I caught Kuni's eyes this time and it seemed like he caught the exchange between us. He raised his eyebrows but luckily my phone rang.
"I'm just gonna, yeah." I pointed to my phone and got up before walking away. I knew it was Lily and my dad before I even answered. I had been waiting for their call all morning.
I talked to them as I headed back up to my room. They were both doing fine and Lily excitedly told me how she was going to daycare and she couldn't wait to see her friends, Ryan and Allie.
We talked up until they had to leave so my dad could drop her off and go to work. After that, I got all the things I would need for practice, the game, and after the game.
I got changed into a white lace dress that reached mid thigh and threw on some red slip on vans with no socks; I was definitely not the heel or sandal type of girl. I left my hair as it's normal curly self and didn't put on any makeup because it would just come off at practice and when I worked out.
Almost everyone was on the bus by the time I got there, we only had to wait for a few more of the guys, including Beau. I sat in a seat by myself towards the front and put my earphones in.
As the rest of the guys climbed onto the bus, Beau's eyes flickered to me but he continues until he found another spot on the bus. It hurt that he didn't want to sit next to me but I guess I couldn't blame him. I did turn him down.
The ride was quick, or at least it felt quick, and before I knew it we were in the locker room changing. Awkwardly enough, me and Beau were put next to each other.
We tried not to act like things were awkward and joked around a little but it wasn't the same. I felt like we were being dramatic about the whole thing but I didn't know what else to do.
Practice was strictly business but it also went way to quick. We learned a few new plays and each line ran through it a few times. Beau and I took awhile to get it but we eventually did and then we were free to do what we wanted until the game.
I was nervous for my first away game but I knew I would be okay, if me and Beau could leave our problems off the ice.
