L x Light Death Note Fan-fic

The break up

While sitting at the table eating Lights phone keeps ringing.

"Light, if that phone ring one more time I'm throwing it out the window."

L says firmly pointing his fork at Light, a strawberry at the end of it. Light laughs quietly, and L eats his stay berry contently. The phone rings again Light picks up.

"Helllllloooo!? Light what haven't you answered my calls!" Misa wails into the phone. Light holds the phone away from is hear she's so loud.

"You never even told me where you went! And what about our date!? You can't just ignore me. I'm your girlfriend!" L snickers a little.

"Misa-" Light repeats several times before she actually shuts up. Light pauses

"I'm... breaking up with you."

"WHAAAA-" Misa screams on the other line, L almost chokes.

Light- ' What am I saying? Though I don't remember meeting Misa that clearly just her claiming to be in love with me when we met... I also don't remember asking her to be my girlfriend. Still why am I saying this now?'

"Yes Misa we're done." Light hangs up, turns off the phone. Then gets up and throws it in the trash.

"I've might of kicked you to hard..." L says staring up at Light. Light has his back to L and says nothing for a few minutes.

"She's... infuriating." Light says as he walks off to get dressed.

Soon they are back in the car again. Light is staring out the window, oblivious to L staring at him.

L - ' I wonder... Light, should I show you. The real me... It's true you were one of my first friends. I have gained a few more along the way yet, looking at you... I feel strange. '

Light turns and sees L staring.

"Hmm? Ryuzaki, you need something?"

"Huh? No its just that-" L trails off adverting his eyes.

Light just shrugs it off. It's raining again and dark for so early on in the day. The car stops out side a huge old looking building. Light peers out in the rain there seems to be a sign on the gate.

Light- 'Where is this? The... Wammy house. What's that?'

L steps out of the car into the rain. He stares up at the building with an unexplainable look in his eyes. Watari comes up with an umbrella.

"Are you sure you're up for this sir?" Watari asks L. He just nods, looking down at Light.

"Are you coming Light? I'd feel better if, a friend came along." They both walk towards the gate Light gets out and follows behind them.

Light- 'This is... an orphanage?
