L x Light Death Note Fan-fic

The bell

They step inside the building no children in site. Light recognizes this room, the one from last night. Those kids he was talking to must go here he thought. The walk onto a small office.
Watari excuses him self saying he'll be back in a minute. L sits down on one of the chairs and hugs his knees. Then, a bell goes off.

"Ryuzaki, why are we here?"

"I spent a good portion of my life here." L says flatly. Light searches for words.

"No need to looked stunned, two of my successors we'll be meeting today."

"Wha-"

"Light, it's nothing to worry about I was thinking about working with one of them in the near the future. They would be the second greatest detective of all time, well and tell they surpass me."

"That's interesting. "

"Yes, it might give me time to take a break. Like a vacation of some sorts. This Kira business has worn me out."
L gets up to leave. "This will only take a minute, you can wait here, or in the car if you'd like."

* * *

On the way back to the hotel L passes out in the car.

Light - ' Hmm his successor? Taking a break? I guess he's right about being worn out. Again he looks so peaceful. I can't believe he's an orphan, though I don't know what else to expect. The bell he keeps talking about... could that be it?

They arrive back at the Hotel, Watari goes to his own room telling them if the need anything to call he has a key.
Light stays quiet.

"Huh, what do you know, Misa Misa has announced that she's quitting modeling due to a broken heart." L mumbles.

"Huh?"

"Look for yourself." L tosses a magazine and Light. Surely enough Misa has gone right to the press.

"Wow to think she'd go this far."

"Well," L says as he tries to open a box of candies. "She must really love you."

"I guess."

"I wonder what that must feel like... to be loved..." L whispers staring at the ceiling. Light stares for a moment, then L goes back to trying to open the box.

"Huh..." Light walks up to L grabbing the candy box from behind, L tenses up. Light opens the box and puts it back in L's hand and turns to go. L reaches out to stop him.

"Huh?" L grabs on to Light, causing him to pull back, then freeze. L has his hand on Lights shirt he turns to him and whispers just by his ear.

"Lawliet... That's my name." The stay close like that for what seems like hours.

Light - ' His name why did he tell me. Does this mean he trusts me? He's standing so close. Have I heard that name before??'

"Lawliet..." Light whispers just saying his name sends chills down his spine. He looks at L who has his head turned away and he could see it was bright red.

So... why can't they just make out already!? Well cause I don't want this to be to easy haha ;) Just in case you need a reminder Light forgot L's real name when he relinquished ownership of the Death Note. Okay on with the story then XD
