Chapter 17:

Matthew's POV:

The plane landed and I started to feel nauseous. I didn't know what to expect when I saw Sam again. I knew I would be happy to see her again, but I was still a little hurt that she just up and left.

Kaylie stood behind me, holding Landon's hand. Tanner, Jack, Hunter, and I looked around for Sam. We saw her standing there, looking as gorgeous as ever.

She was holding a sign that had our names on it and was holding a young boy on her other side; he was settled on her hip. There was a guy next to her; standing at least 6 foot 8. He was intimidating and had a protective arm around Sam. I felt my heart sink in my chest. Who was he?

"Sam," I spoke softly.

Sam gave me a gentle smile and handed the boy over to the guy next to her. She put down the sign and wrapped her arms around my neck. I squeezed her tightly.

"Matthew, it's so good to see you," she giggled.

"Mama," a little voice came from behind her.

I watched as Sam turned around and grabbed the little boy back. She kissed his cheek and then looked at all of us.

"Matthew, Kaylie, Jack, Hunter, Tanner, and Landon, I would like to introduce you to my son, Merrick and my cousin, Scott."

Son? Wait, what?

"Well, let's get back to the house. I have a lot of explaining to do," Sam broke the awkward silence.

I was in shock. What else was there about Sam that we didn't know? At least that Scott guy was her cousin. I was really worried when I saw how close he and Sam were.

"You are just like a jealous school boy," Kaylie whispered in my ear.

I scoffed. "I am not."

"Matt, I've known you for a long time. And I know when you're lying," she smirked. "You should go for it."

"Come on," Sam called from up ahead.

We all hurried up and got in the car waiting for us. We made small talk as we drove to the house, but we never approached the topic that I so desperately wanted to talk about.

The house we pulled up to was huge. Okay, huge was actually an understatement. It was massive. And as we walked up to the front door, Sam dropped the biggest bomb on us yet.

"The Aces, welcome to The Vigilantes HQ."

Holy ....

~Sammy's POV:

I led the boys into the house. I knew they were surprised. My crew came bounding into the hallway and started talking all at once.

"Quiet!" I shouted.

Everyone became quiet. "Sorry, boss."

"Listen up! These are The Aces. The girl is Kaylie and that is her son, Landon. I expect that you treat them with respect as they are now our guests. And if they approve, I want you to start training them. After the meeting I am about to have with them, you are allowed to discuss anything you may like. Keep The Aces updated on anything you may find. Are we clear?"

"Yes, Ma'am."

"Good. Now go. I have a lot to talk about," I said. I looked at Scott. "Scott, as much as I know you want to be there with me, go and help Peter train the twins. You know I expect them to be able to protect themselves."
