"...Ngh."
Ugh...my head is throbbing. You opened your eyes slowly, holding your head with one hand. Your mind still felt fuzzy, but the first thing you saw was...
Whoosh whoosh whoosh
"?!" You saw countless arrows flying through the air!
"Aagh!!" It looked like a soldier that shrieked, but you couldn't tell very well. The warrior fell to the ground with an arrow protruding from his chest.
Is this...a battle?!
You sat up, staring blankly at the unbelievable scene before your eyes.
Why am I here...? And... Who am I? Where am I?
"...Watch out!"
"Huh?!" You say.
Slash.
An arrow was flying straight at your face, but a girl cut it down out of the air with her sword!
"Hide behind me! Quickly!" She said.
"Wh-who are you...?"
Slash!
The girl didn't answer, but cut down another arrow out of the air.
"Alright, now's our chance..." She said.
"Eek!" You yelped out as she hoisted you onto her shoulder with one arm.
Still carrying you, she ran through the trees like the wind.
She's moving so fast it doesn't seem human! Who is this girl?!
"Retreat for now!" It sounded like the enemy commander was calling back his troops. The soldiers all suddenly turned and left.
"Sorry for the rough handling." The girl smiled at you, and patted your head. "Its okay for now." She said.
"..." After the enemies left, you were taken to an important looking commander. She was surrounded by three woman, who looked like her guards.
"Grass, who is that boy?" The commander asked.
"He was about to be shot on the battlefield, so I brought him here, Minama."
"!!" Minama?!
Was this commander really Minama Minamoto?!
"You appear to have heard my name before." She says
"...Yes." You look up at Minama and nod firmly. "You're Minama Minamoto, daughter of the late Micera Minamoto, right?"
Minama smiled. "So you must know who the men I was fighting against are as well?"
"The Taira clan..." I've heard that Minama had incredibly strong guards. Is that them? And... Did I faint, right in the middle of one of the Minamoto clan's battles.
"I see... You must be a very educated boy. And that looks like the clothing of a noble. What's a respectable man like you doing here?"
"...I don't know." You shrug.
"You don't know?" One of the guards looked at me strangely.
"Then what's your name?" Minama widened her eyes.
"..." You pressed your hand against your temple, and opened your mouth slowly.
"(Y/N)... I think my name is... (Y/N)."
"You think? What do you mean, think?" The same guard shouted. "Stop it, Flame! Can't you tell he's frightened?" Grass growled.
"But-"
"Grass's right. There's no need to scare him so much." The woman called Flame grew quiet when Minama spoke.
"Have you... lost your memory?" Minama asked.
"I don't know... I don't remember anything... I have no idea why I'm here, or who or where I am..." You hesitate. "I can remember the name (Y/N)... and that's all."
"Hmm... Could something have given you amnesia?" One of the guards smiled and reached out to touch my head.
"Ow!" You gasp.
"Sun, what are you..." Grass raised an eyebrow.
"Just as I thought. He's got a bump on the back of his head. It doesn't seem like a serious injury though."
"..."
Minama addressed the guard standing silent and alert beside her.
"Sea, is there something you want to say?"
"No... I'm just wondering if we can trust what he says." Sea replies.
"I feel the same way." Flame agreed.
"What if he's a Taira assassin, pretending to have lost his memory just to get close to us?"
A Taira assassin?!
"What do you think, Grass?" Minama asks.
"He was almost shot by Taira arrows. He doesn't move like a trained assassin, either. And also..." Grass looked at me closely with her deep eyes. "Looking at his eyes, I don't believe that he's telling a lie."
"Your right. I think the same thing." Minama agreed. "He must have hit his head, falling from a horse or something. Maybe he's only temporarily lost his memory." Minama smiled. "Grass, I'll leave you in charge of taking care of him. When we get back to the mansion, please see to his injury."
"You're going to take him back to the mansion?!" Flame hissed.
"Well we can't just leave him in a dangerous place like this." Minama said. "We can take him home when his memory returns."
"..." Flame bit back a reply, but nodded curtly.
Grass smiled gently as she took your hand. "Alright, (Y/N), let's go back to the mansion on my horse."
And so you were taken to the mansion where Minama was staying in the capital.
"Grass, we're at war. You two should stay in the same room in case there's a night attack." Minama said.
"Understood." Grass nodded.
"Wha...?!"
But... I have to sleep in the same room as a woman I've only just just met?!
"(Y/N), I understand your hesitation, but since I brought you back, I'm responsible for you. I have to get you safely back home." Minama looked over at you and smiled lightly.
"Yes..." You say.
"I also think that plan is the best. He still might be a Taira assassin." Flame growled.
"You're so suspicious, Flame, to think this handsome boy would be an assassin!" Sun suddenly grabbed your shoulders!
