"Okay I'm going to call Louis up here and tell him what's going on. He can just take Liam into the backyard or something and we can leave." Harry suggests. We both nod and Harry takes his phone out and dials Louis's number. They talk for a few seconds and minutes later, Louis arrives upstairs.
"Who is it?" Harry questions the knock.
"Louis and Liam, you dumbass." Louis responds from the other side of the locked door. Lacey and I go wide eyed, and scramble to get into Louis's closet. Once we were in, we heard the bedroom door open.
"Louis you fucking dick." I hear Harry curse. Louis's laughter followed his remark. I looked at Lacey, the both of us very confused. The sound of footsteps became louder and louder, until the door swung open. I was expecting to see a shocked Liam, but it was only Louis and Harry. I walked up to Louis and smacked his arm.
"Ow!" He exclaims, still laughing at his own prank. I just shook my head.
"That wasn't fucking funny." Lacey states before she punches him in the opposite arm that I had previously hit. Louis winced at the pain. "So where is Liam now?" She questions. Louis shrugs.
"Last time I saw him, he was with Niall in the kitchen." Louis answers. "You guys know that you're dead if he catches you here, right?" I groan in response.
"We know. That's why we need to leave." I said. I glanced at Lacey, who looked like she was trying to figure something out, hopefully a good plan. A few minutes of silence passed before she spoke up.
"You know, technically I don't need to leave. I mean I can always tell Liam that you weren't feeling well and you left my house, so I decided to come here..." I raised my eyebrows at her. She couldn't be serious.
"Seriously?" I thought she was kidding, until she shrugged as if it was nothing. Now I was pissed. "Are you fucking kidding me?!" I raised my voice a tad. She wouldn't really ditch me would she?
"Okay calm down." Louis tried to keep us civilized, but my blood was boiling. We've done this a million times and this type of thing has never happened. She was seriously considering leaving me alone.
"No, I won't calm down. Do you expect me to fucking walk home or something?" She shrugs before suggesting that she's "sure I can find a ride". She was really pushing it now. I couldn't believe what she was saying. "I hope you remember the fact that you wouldn't even be here if it wasn't for me. You wouldn't know over half of these people if it wasn't for me. If it wasn't for me, you would be siting at home doing nothing. Or maybe you'd be at the library if you were feeling festive?" Lacey's face turned a bright red at the remembrance of her old habits and routines. I could feel the awkwardness coming from the other two boys as well. Before we were friends, she was, well, I can't think of a better way to say it, but she was a dork. Very little friends, and gave off a very awkward and shy impression. The two of us have gone to school together since kindergarten but we only started being friends during the summer of freshman year. We ended up going to the same summer camp, and were assigned the same cabin. I hated the idea of spending all summer with a girl who doesn't talk, but I was determined to get her to socialize with me. Everyday, I tried to break down her wall of awkwardness and shyness. By the end of the summer, we were inseparable.
"All this shit I've done for you and now you're thinking about leaving me alone to find a way home, after I'm the one who got you here?" I wanted to cry, slap her in the face, and scream all at once. Lacey looked down at the ground, and was completely silent. "Un-fucking-believable." I spat, and stormed out the room and down the stairs, not even caring if my brother saw me at this point. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I picked up the pace. This became a difficult task as I tried running down the street in heels. I heard someone running after me and calling my name, but I didn't stop until I was over halfway down the street. I would've kept going, but my vision was paralyzed by the tears streaming down my face, and my feet felt as though they were going to fall off. I was already close to the side of the road so I just stopped to pull off my heels as quickly as I could, before wiping my eyes from the salty water surrounding them. Footsteps became closer, chasing me down the street and I decided to give up, and walked along the side of the road, not even caring how rude I probably seemed. Large hands gripped my waist and spun me around quickly. I was met with Harry, his green eyes full of worry.
