Sometimes, life is beautiful.
Sometimes, life is unfair.
Sometimes, life is a wave.
But sometimes, you find someone.
And sometimes, that someone is all you really need.
Sometimes, I still remember the taste of his lips.
Connor Ball, sometimes, you are here with me.
_____
I have always liked this boy so much.
We were in the same class since we were in primary school; we were best friends when we were 5 years old, but then I started to make more and more friends, leaving him in a side.
The point is: I was going to try to talk again with Connor. Everyday I saw him in class, my heartbeats increased so fast and I couldn't hide it anymore.
I walked towards him and sat next to him. He looked at me surprised, with his big blue eyes that melted my heart.
'Hey Con.' I smiled, starting to feel nervous. He mumbled a response, shaking slightly his hands. 'Can we go out of class? I need to talk to you.'
He nodded quickly, and we exited the room, walking till we find an empty hall.
'So yeah... Can you remember our childhood?' He smiled softly, nodding. 'We were best friends, as you remember, and... Well, I don't know what ruined our friendship... But I really want it back.' I sighed, breathing deeply. 'I-I mean, I'm not trying to reemplace any of your friends, I just really miss talking to you-'
'Do you want to be friends again?' I listened to his sweet voice, admiring his scottish accent that had never disappeared, though he moved to Birmingham when he was 4 years old.
'Yeah, that's exactly what I mean.' I giggled, seeing how a smile started to form on his lips. 'Friends again?' I showed my pinky.
He looked at my pinky, smiling.
'Friends again.' He interlaced his pinky with mine, as we used to do when we were children.
And that was the start of all.
***
There were plenty of times we've met since that day. We lived in the same neighbourhood so we were always in the house of each other since that day.
We just became as close as we used to be when we were children.
That day, we were gonna make a trip to the same beach we went to with our families years ago. That time, the two of us alone.
I reached his house, and he ran to me with his bag on his back.
'You ready?' I asked him, opening my arms to catch him.
'ME READY!' he shouted happily, jumping into my arms and hugging me.
If he could only know how much I loved him.
After a few hours on the bus, where he fell asleep on my shoulder all the time (not that I'm gonna complain, I kinda loved that, but I wanted to talk with him all the time) we arrived to the beach.
There were a lot of activities we could do there, but we just decided to sit on the sand and watch the sea.
'Isn't it beautiful?' Connor said as I wrapped my arms around his shoulders, leaning him into me.
'Yeah, it is.' I said, but instead watching the sea, I watched Connor's face, admiring every single detail.
'No one understands it. It is not beautiful because of the view, or because of the colour. It's just the things it does. Can you see it? All the water. It arrives to the coast in a wave, stronger than never. But it finally decays, becoming smaller into foam, and then going back into the sea. It represents the life. We are that wave coming to the coast, but we just sit here seeing it, though we should go and enjoy it instead. Enjoy the life while we're alive.'
