The Beginning......

As Reglan looked back he could see the fading lights of his home, his heart was breaking but he had to leave for the sake of their child, he had fought hard and long for his home town, but he knew that it had all been a failed attempt, the council were not truthful to their people, and he had learned this the hard way, he had been there from the beginning listening and doing as he was bid, but eventually he had noticed things that he could not agree with, taking small children from their families, or the young girls who were ready for wedding and bearing children, once he had realised what was going on he had gone to confront them, but no one had heeded his warnings that things would get worse, he had threatened them, but the council had laughed in his face, until he had found the evidence and had proved to them that he would do whatever it took to break them down, but he had only been able to exile himself and his pregnant wife with a few of his friends from their homeland, so be it, he would be much happier some where else than being with these people who were unworthy or their own, he wanted to save them all, but he couldnt and he knew this, he knew that he had to leave before things got out of hand, his wife was pregnant and if they found out they would take her, even if she was the daughter of one of the council, it did not matter they were determined to get every one of them, Reglan didnt want to chance it, he needed to get them to safty and thats why he had bargained away his only chip at hand, they had given him a choice to either leave with his own free will or stay and turn himself over for the safety of his wife, Reglan didnt believe them for one minute, they would do what they had done to the previous mothers, slaughtered them to their deaths for their children, he would not chance it, thats why he had threatened them all and had been given free will, he had collected his wife and a few trusting friends and had headed for the portal, he knew there would be no return after they had stepped through it.

He turned and looked at the woman beside him, heavy with child, she tried to smile but the smile did not reach her eyes, her name was Bellara, they had been married for five full moons now, and she was pregnant with his child, a girl, Bellara looked at her husband, strong and proud, she didn't think they would make it, would the guards let them pass at the gate, would they shoot them, what if she got shot and what of the child, or if she fell she could lose the baby, she tried to be strong but she didn't know how, and as Reglan now known as James, since he was an outlaw now, had changed his name and had forced her to use it, he had said "You have to use my new name now, its James I cannot go by Reglan any more, they know me too well, I have to use this name now, you understand don't you, you have to get use to it on your tongue, for the sake of our child." Every thing had been for our child, and she had said no more his old name, instead testing his new name upon her lips, as James pulled her along she wanted to tell him so about what she felt and the frightening feeling which was growing within her, but there was no room for talk now, James had told her that the laws of the Seglon were changing and that their baby was in danger of being taken, they had learned of this maybe a moon ago, and now they and several other families were crossing the borders of the dimensions to live with the humans, this is what they had planned, but Bellara was not too sure, she had a bad feeling and she was in constant pain, but she never had a chance to tell her husband, he was too busy planning their escape for a moon now, but when they were alone she would tell him, that he would bring their daughter into this new world and he would be the sole parent, she could feel this, she could had the sight to see the future and she could see a tall young man, who she did not know, could this be James other child, she was not sure, but she knew that she did not have much time with her family, and that James would soon lose her, they dredged up the hill and stopped at a cluster of trees, James turned and looked at everyone gravely, "Now listen, I have bought us a ten minute window where we cross to the other side, that's all, and if the window closes that it, there is no going back, and if you haven't crossed going forward for that case, now I will get a signal when its sent then we move, on my count so don't stand around, run." Everyone was scared, Bellara could feel it, her brow was sweating and her stomach ached, the child within her kicked around excitedly, but the excitement was not of pleasure but of fear for Bellara she was frightened beyond reason, and she couldn't get the feeling of dread out of her, she hated this whole thing about running away from her homeland her father, her mother, what was she getting herself into, but she loved James too much, he had always been there for her, held her when her father had beat her, protected her when she had been bullied at school, it was and had always been Reglan now known as James, so how could she de nigh him she couldn't and wouldn't.
