Kira's POV
--------------------
My teacher had asked me to stay a while after our English class. Malia was there, too. Our teacher said we were a little behind on our work. We were doing this interview-thing with each other, and both of us had been sick. She said we still needed to do it and write about each other in a portrayal. Malia looked me in the eyes, just for a second. I knew what she was thinking. This is so awkward. Then we left the classroom and headed for lunch.I barely ate anything, just picked at the vegetarian beef in front of me with my fork, crushing it. I ignored my friends talking about something unimportant, and fell deep into thoughts, instead.
Malia and I wasn't what u would call close.
She hangs with her friends, I hang with mine. We don't hang. Ever.
It's not like she looks down on us. She's not evil, like most popular girls in those typical High School- movies. She's nice, and so is her friends, kinda'. But, unlike me, they're beautiful.Malia is the most. Yeah, definitely. Really thin, actually, which isn't something I'm normayou cannot not be interested in someone like her. She's just... Perfect. And she's smart too, although her grades didn't really show. She's a good talker, good at arguing, finding good arguments for her opinion or cause, and I just know she wants to be a lawyer. She'd make a good one...
But I also know she picks fights with the teachers, so her grades wasn't the best.
My friend suddenly waved her hand in my face, trying to get my attention, and I dropped my fork in surprise as I left my thoughts behind.
"Are you even listening?" She said, sounding a bit bitchy, and I just nodded.
"Yeah, sure..." I said, but didn't pay attention to another word she said.
--------------------
The rest of the break I just sat in the hallway with my headphones on, ignoring everything, other than the music in my ears and my own thoughts. And Malia.
She stood with her group of friends, laughing. They never seemed to leave her side. From time to time she turned her head around, giving me an opportunity to get a glimpse of her equally beautiful face. Especially her eyes. And her HAIR! She had reccently cut it off, just above her shoulders, despite that all her friends had hair down to their asses. I knew she'd always hated it long, getting in her eyes when she was studying, and she had to put it up in a ponytail, or braid, once she ran out the Lacrosse-field. (I always came watching her, giving the excuse that I knew Allison Argent, also on the team.) Her hair swayed around her in light curls when she suddenly started laughing. Beautiful...There was something so incredibly fascinating about her. I liked to think of her as an angel sent from above, to save me from all these pity people and take me with her to spend all eternity in heaven...
Last period ended. The day was finally over. I stood on my knees by my locker, about to grab my backpack and get the hell out of this place, when a shadow appeared over me.
"Um... Hi?"
I looked up, and there she was. Malia was looming over me, the light from the ceiling behind her made her look holy, and... Angel like, even more than before.
"Uuuhh...?" Was alI I managed to get out. Oh my God, you worthless piece of shit! My mind screamed at me, and I mentally slapped myself.
"Hi." She said again, sounding more adamant this time. "I was just wondering if we could do that, you know... Thing, today?"
I was having a hard time understanding a word she said, her looks were... distracting. But she was obviously talking about our portrayals about one another, and that she wanted to do the interview today, which made heart pick up its pace, and I immediately felt nervous.
