A Twist of Fate

Chapter 11: I am also known as Cordelia Gregory Balthazar, your aunt.

"She didn't summon anyone, what are you talking about?" Malefica said angrily.

Gertrude looked at her with her glowing gold eyes and said.

"qui estis?" Gertrude said in a different language.

"We speak in English in the presence of a human" Malefica responded.

"I'm not human" I said, Gertrude smirked while Malefica shot daggers at me but I continued, "But I would like to at least understand what you're talking about."

Gertrude smiled while showing a freakishly nice set of teeth and said.

"Daughter of Cornileus, I have waited so long to meet finally meet you, you have grown to be quite a lady."

"Enough with compliments!!" Malefica snapped. "Who are you and what are you doing here? Who sent you here?"

Gertrude's eyes glowed again and she took a step toward Malefica. Malefica stood her ground and didn't move an inch. They both had some sort of staring contest until Malefica dropped her gaze and looked away. Gertrude had a look accomplishment on her face. Looks like some kind of demon stare down contest. Gertrude retreated from where Malefica was and looked at me now.

"Amanda!! Let me introduce myself properly, I am Gertrude Nightingale but other than my pseudonym, I am also known as Cordelia Gregory Balthazar, your aunt."

My jaw dropped to the ground.

I don't know how long I just stood there processing what she said. I wondered should I hug her and be happy that I actually have an aunt? Or should I be scared that she comes from a so called demon prison and has a fake name which The Witches of Abracadabra wouldn't even use.

"Well come here dearie, don't I get a hug?" Gertrude said with open arms and a big smile. And that's where Angelo intervened and made us sure aware of his presence after all.

"Cordelia Balthazar is a dark angel died a long time ago. She committed suicide after her brother killed her lover who happened to be a demon. That was before Cornileus fell in love with Sirena."

"How did she kill herself?"

"She drank a powerful poison."

"Do you happen to know the name?" Gertrude or Cordelia asked with a smug look on her face. Angelo turned red and looked down suddenly very interested in his shoes.

"I'm waiting for you answer angel"

"His name is Angelo" I said.

"I see Angelo the Angel. Your parents were quite creative my boy."

Angelo mumbled something but it was barely audible.

"Repeat yourself young angel"

"The poison was the minorificante puritatis." I stood there shocked at what Angelo had said, soon after Cordelia roared with laughter. Malefica was observing our so called visitor and Angelo's eyes were filled with confusion.

Welcome to my world. As the proud founder of the 'I'm Confused' club I grant you the privilege of joining us.

Cordelia finally calmed down and I was hoping she would enlighten us on her laughing fit. She looked at us and her eyes softened for a moment before gaining a hint of amusement in them.

"I'm guessing you read my book?" She said whilst glancing at Angelo. Angelo's eyes widened with realization.

"I KNEW THE NAME WAS FAMILIAR"

"Well then if you all would like a clarification to this situation, I would suggest we all sit down." She said and we all sat down before she spoke again. "Stop glaring young demon I happen to be your aunt's future sister in law brighten up a little."

"I'm not gonna 'brighten up' as you put it. What I'm gonna do is show you the door or better yet the portal. Go back to where you came from and stop feeding us your stupid bullsh*t. And don't you dare mention Sirena you never knew her and you never will. Now you better get out of here OR I'LL MAKE YOU"

The room went silent. Cordelia got up from here seat and kept a cool composure. She walked towards a very angry and very red Malefica, looked her dead in the eye and said.

"You may not disrespect me in such a manner, after all we used to be on good terms. It's a shame you don't remember me Maly."

Malefica's eyes widened and started looking around the room frantically, and just as soon as she blinked dark clouds surrounded her and she disappeared. To be honest I felt much safer when she was here but then again there must be a reason to why she left.

"Now then shall we begin the story or does anyone else want to leave?"

Angelo shook his head and I remained silent. She took it as a sign of approval and started her tale.

"I am in fact Cordelia Balthazar. I was in my late teens when I met Henry, a tall and handsome demon he had the blonde hair the red eyes and the entire female teen demon population wrapped around his finger. How I met him? He used to be Sirena's best friend. How did I meet Sirena? We happened to share the same passion of reading and adventure. Long story short we vandalized a computer shop, went on a hike in the Hallows of Venus and discovered our own private hideout where we used to read the books we had stolen. I was never the obedient one in the family so I thought I might as well be bad. So when I met Henry it was...as the French would say "Le coup de Foudre" and Sirena being his best friend helped. I soon fell in love with him and we started talking about forever. Around the same time Sirena met my brother Cornileus and the same happened to her. However unlike Cornileus, Henry wasn't one to commit and I soon found out he had been cheating on me with a fallen angel who later on got pregnant. I was heartbroken and when Cornileus found out he got furious. So one day I found out that he had asked Sirena about Henry's whereabouts nonchalantly. Being the madman he is, the same night he takes some of his friends with him and beats Henry to pulp causing his death also. When I found out about his death I was in hysterics. I couldn't stand anything so I thought I might as well leave and hide in the Hallows of Venus. Sirena used to check up on me every once in a while, she even suggested I write a book and so I did. I used my isolation to my advantage. After a while Sirena stopped visiting and I found out what happened. Sirena's death, Cornileus put in solitary confinement, and you my dear Amanda. And so I am here." Cordelia took a long sigh after she finished.

I didn't know what to do after that touching story so I ran to her and enveloped her in a hug.

"I'm glad you're alive auntie. I'm so sorry for what happened"

We stayed like that for a while until we heard a door closing.

"Cordelia I am so sorry." A teary eyed Malefica rushed to join in the group hug.

"You girls are all I have left" She said as she hugged as tighter.

"Does dad know ur alive?" I asked.

"He does and he is very much informed of you existence also."

"WHAT?"

I was facing a light writer's block which became a heavy one. But good news I'm back and so is Amanda Panda woohooo!!
