"Dude, we shouldn't be doing this." Wally whispers softly as we make our way down the hall to the kitchen. He's right though. We shouldn't be doing it. But when Alfred makes cupcakes and leaves them gliting in the pale moonlight, on a plate in the kitchen, filling the house with the sweet smell of frosting, you just HAVE to do it.
"KF, stay whelmed, and keep quiet." I reply "If Bruce catches us, we're doomed." It's the middle of the night and Bruce and Alfred have gone to bed. But if we make even the softest noise, they'll be down here faster than you can say 'Batman'. "I AM being quiet, Dick. And he can't catch me." Wally smiles proudly. I roll my eyes. Gosh. Guess if you're Kid Flash you can somehow do ANYTHING. I sware Wally's turning into Batman. Soon he'll be going around town boasting that he's Kid Flash. As we get closer to the kitchen, the smell of the sweet frosting grows stronger. I soon find my mouth watering. Suddenly, the floorboards under Wally creak. We both freeze, not daring to even breathe. A few minutes go by and nothing happens. With a nod at Wally giving the all clear, we walk through the door into the kitchen. And there it is.
A white glass plate, with six, triple frosting, soft chocolate middle, mouth watering, whipped creamed, sugar loaded, Alfred made, famous cupcakes. A smile appears on Wally's face. "Dude..." He whispers under his breath. I nod with a smile. "Let's go and get them!" He says a little loud, and is about to run forward, when I stop him.
"Wait, KF." I mumble. He stops. I nod at where the cupcakes are. A small, red light shines from the counter. Wally straightens. "Are those laser beams?" He asks, I nod. "Who puts laser beams around cupcakes?" He practicaly shouts. I throw my hand over his mouth. "Shh... Uh... Apparently, Bruce Wayne does."If I were in costume this would be a whole lot easier. But I'm in my pj's. My soft, warm, red and yellow Robin pj's. It even has a cape! How cool is that? Only missing the mask. Wally's looks like his costume too. Diana had made them for the team for last Christmas. Best gift ever! And actually, best Christmas ever.
I stare at the cupcakes on the plate, thinking. "Well, Rob, what do we do?" Wally asks, interrupting my thoughts. "Stay here and keep watch. I'll get the cupcakes." I answer smirking. Wally throws a hand over his mouth and gasps. "No. Don't. It's to... to dangerous." He says dramatically. I laugh softly and he joins in too.
Wally has been my best friend forever. I honestly can't remember a time when I didn't know him. Well... I do... but that was before I became Robin. I tell him everything. He's like my brother. A really cool older brother. Who is funny, and LOVES food. But hey. When you run at the speed he does, you become very hungry very... well... Fast.Taking a breath, I move forward slowly. Wally I notice is watching me and not the doorway. But whatever. I flip over the first laser beam and land on my feet lightly. I look over my shoulder, and Wally gives me a thumbs up. I smile and slide under the next one on my stomach. It takes some time, and there was a moment when I lost my footing and my arm ALMOST touched one, but I eventually make it to the plate of cupcakes. Which presents me with another problem.
Knowing Bruce he's probably got a scale under the plate. If I accidently brush against a cupcake, it'll sense the weight shift and set off an alarm. Seriously, though. All this securety, just for cupcakes?!Finding the control for the laser beams under the counter, I quickly hack into it, and shut of the lasers. Wally quietly approaches. "You know, you can be sort of scary sometimes, Rob." He whispers, making to grab a cupcake. I slap his hand away.
"Don't. And how do you mean?"
"The way you're so good at hacking." He rubs his hand "It can be scary." I smile.
I may not have super powers, but I have other talents. Hacking and vanishing are my very special skills. I am pretty fast for a human too. Not as fast as Kid Flash, but faster than normal. And I have a somewhat resistance to mind control. Apparently I have a strong will. That's what Bruce says.
