Jade's POV

"Jade sweety the cookies are almost done please get them ready~" mom said in her usual jolly self.

I nodded and walked towards the oven, the cookies are almost done. "5... 4... 3... 2... 1..."

*ting!*

I giggled as I put on my mittens and opened the oven to grabbed the tray of cookies.

I placed the cookies on the open window to let it cool down.

"Aren't you leaving yet?" I jerked up when I heard mom's voice, She giggled.

"Nope, not yet. You sound like your getting rid of me." I gave her a pout.

She chuckled, "of corse not, it's just you might get late again, we wouldn't want that would we, captain?"

"Hahaha" I fake laughed and gave her a glare.

"What? Am I wrong, captain? " she said in a mocking tone.

"Stop calling me captain!" She just giggled and went back to baking.

I sighed and went up to my room. I closed the door upon entering my room.

I sat on my bed and grabbed a book from the bed side table.

"we meet again... father's book." I opened it on the last page, a hand written note from my father to me.

Father loves you so much dear Jade, be the best you can be and don't let them in your head be what you want.

I love you and your mother very much.

I closed the book and layed on my bed tired from last nights mission.

We have to slay the beast roaming in the east forest of Iluvbuk. He was an easy one, but I have soldiers to watch over. Their lives are mine to protect even if its theirs!

"Neigh!"

I sat up when I heard a horse. "General Greg must be here."

I got off my bed and went down to see him sitting on the chair infront of mom.

'Well he got in quick'

"I'll go get her." Mom got up and saw me walking towards them. "Never mind. Dear, Gen. Greg is here."

I nodded, "mom can you please leave us?" She nodded and went outside.

"Captain Elle." I nodded and we sat down.

"What is it General?" He sighed, "new infiltrators, new beasts in the east and west forest. We need to deal with them A.S.A.P"

"I'll meet you at the west part of the forest at 11am, we attack the east as soon as the sunsets." He nodded, "oh and we are needed in the meeting hall tomorrow at 9am please do not be late this time."

I nodded and bid him farewell when he got on his horse.

"Why don't you go now?" mom asked while starring at the General Greg ride away.

"My work here at the bakery isn't done yet, I still have 15 minutes till 10:30, until then I'm an assistant baker.

She sighed in defeat, "come on then useless baker."

"Useles!? Who are you calling useless? I am the capatin of army 3, you dare call me useless?"

"Put on your apron and get to work." Mom ordered.

'I do not follow commoners! I am a captain! Haha joke, mom would've killed me of I used that on her...'

"Get to work!!"

"Aye!" I saluted amd went inside to help her with the bakery.

15 minutes later...

"Get dressed already!" Mom pushed me up the stairs.

"Okay, okay. Sheeesh!" I opened the door to my room and grabbed my uniform.

I got rid of my apron and wore my uniform. I grabbed my sword and put on my long boots you know the ones that end below your knee.

I walked down the stairs to see mom talking to her customers. "Bye!"

"Bye and be careful!" I nodded and went to the stable

"Miss Elle are you hear to pick up Frus?" The caretaker of the horse, mrs. Roan said.

"Yes, where is he?" Asked politely.

"He's over here." She escorted me to Frus. He was eating carrots as always.

"Here's the payment mrs. Roan." I gave her the 5 silver coins as payment for taking care of Frus.

I got on Frus and patted his black head. "To the west forest." He neighed and ran out of the stable running towards the west forest.

"Faster boy."

He ran faster. The wind hitting my face felt good, the cold breeze always made me feel free from doubts.

We finally arrived at the west forest. "Looks like its just us here Frus." I got off Frus and examined the place.

A bush rustled, I quietly approached the tiny bush, the rustling stopped followed by the ground shaking.

"Who's there?" I asked/demanded.

And out of the bushes came out a big and scary monster who once looked like an innocent rabbit with big pleading eyes.

"Damn, these tiny beasts!"
