In the early hours of dawn the sun light struggles to break through the fog and trees. Dew settles onto the leaves and grass bring a nourishing to all living things. In the bend of a roots a small pink nose peeks out, it's whiskers twitch before the small furry figure emerges. A tiny mouse scurries to a leaf and catches a droplets from it's point for a morning bath. Around the little mouse the world starts to come alive as the sun finally breaks through the fog. Birds start to sing and fluff their feathers getting ready for a new days, while the night animals settle in to their homes. Above the mouse a single flower wiggles dropping a droplet of water on his head. It slides off his fur slowly and he hurries to clean himself off. His small little fingered paws shifting through the fur to fix the mess.

Above him something struggles to free it's self from the flower. The mouse turns to watch now as it swings wildly about. Confused he scratches his head and takes a step back as he tries to figure out what is going on. Then a noise is heard and the mouse hops back before turning and scurrying back to his home to peek out. It would be a moment later when a burst of sparkles and something else explodes from the flower. It didn't make it far before smacking into another flower stem and sliding down it upside down landing in a huddled mess. All was quiet for a moment before a huff was heard and the mess started to unfold.

Long legs lead up into a slightly torn leaf skit around rounded hips, small dainty hands smoothed down the the material before worrying over the halter top made of the same leaves. Then her hands went to a pair of the most beautiful translucent wings the mouse had ever seen. While he had seen fairies before this one was different. Wings larger than most and they held more sparkle as well. But, it had been a long time since a fairy was in the glade. In awe of the wings and a little less frightened the mouse moved slowly forward. The fairy was busy making sure nothing was broken or injured to see him there. But, a bit of fairy dust in his nose made him sneeze causing them both to jump.

"Oh now, Dearie, I'm sorry I startled you."  Said the mouse as he clasp his front paws together. With wide eyes the fairy looked at him for a moment before she took a deep breath and smiled.

"It's alright. Could you..." She seemed to pause and bite her small lower lip. "Could you tell me where I am?" She looked tired and weak now that the mouse had a closer look.

"The glade." Was the answer the mouse gave. He watched as her wings drooped and her shoulder fell and she heaved a sigh.

"Oh no." With another heavy sigh the little fairy kicked a small peddle and floated to a nearby mushroom to cross her legs and sit. "Oh dear, this won't do at all." Little hands covered her face and she began to cry. The mouse crept closer and rested his front paws on the edge of the mushroom.

"What's wrong, Fairy bug? Why do you cry?" A paw patted her knee to comfort as he looked at her.

"I was chased by a bird and the got lost in the fog. I have no way of getting home cause I didn't see where I was going and don't know the way back." She cried a little harder her words coming out in sobs.

"I have a friend who might be able to help." Turning slightly he pointed up into to the tree where there sparrows nest covered the tree branches. "They might be able to spread the word for you." He said as he looked back at the fairy.

"Do you really think so?" The crying had calmed into sniffles and she was looking back and forth between him and the sparrows nest.

"It's worth a try." The mouse said with a nod stepped back from the mushroom on his back paws. With a hopeful look the little fairy was up, her grand wings fluttering as she flew into the oak tree and around the branches before slowly settling her bare feet on the bark. Her last encounter with a bird left her a little apprehensive of this meeting, but she had to remember that sparrows didn't eat fairies. Swallowing down the nerves she moved closer to the nest.

"Excuse me." She gave a timid wave and smiled sheepishly as she tucked her wings against her back and clasp her hands behind her. "I was wondering if you could help me out. The mouse said you might be able to." Her voice cracked a little as she spoke and she placed her fingers at the base of her throat as she blushec and smiled. The sparrow shifted in it's nest, feathers fluffing as it came to face her making her back up a step in fear.

"What, what?" The feathers ruffled again and the sparrow shook it's head and then studied her. "The mouse, you say?"The sparrow looked over the side of the nest towards the mouse's home where he sat waiting. "Ah, yes, I owe him a favor or two, what can I do for you?" The sparrow turned back to the fairy. So, the fairy told her the story, animating it a bit with her actions. Her hands swished through the like a bird chasing her other hand. Then wrapping her arms around her as she spoke about being lost. When she was done she looked up at the sparrow with tears in her eyes.

"I just want to go home." Her voice small and tearful it's self.

"There, there. I'll get word to a few other sparrows and we'll have you home in not time." She stood then and ruffled out her feathers and stretched her wings. "Alright, let's fly down and talk to the mouse before I leave." So, they swooped down and landed near the mouse. The sparrow told the mouse what she was going to do and they both agreed the fairy should stay with him. "I'll be back before you know it." With a wink the sparrow was off again leaving the fairy with the mouse.
