Rushing into his sons room and shouting "Talnic wake up! there is a merchant leaving today in one hour, and there wont be another for a month or more" Talnic's father started shaking his son to wake him.

"What? Stop shaking me and let me wake up!" Talnic growled. Sitting up slowly and rubbing his eyes Talnic look around still half asleep. "Now what did you say father?"

Breathing out slowly to calm himself his father slowly replied "I said, there is a merchant leaving today in one hour, and wont be another for a month or more, so unless you want to wait a whole month we must get ready NOW!"

Shaking his head to try and clear the sleep from his head, since he is still too young to have mastered the normal meditative state that most elven folk enter. "Very well I will pack quickly, and meet you outside in thirty minutes." With that Talnic went to his closet and pulled out an old pack and started stuffing clothing into it, along with his meager saving from the past three years of three gold coins. "I hope this will be enough to last me in the city" Talnic mumbled to himself "I have never had much need for money here at home, father always bought me what ever I wanted. Oh well I guess it will have to do."

Down stairs his father was rushing around packing his clothing, water skins, food, rope, oil, lanterns, and other supplies that would be needed for the journey. His mother was packing additional clothing for Talnic suspecting that he would only pack a change or two for the entire six day trip and stay in Udsi Yvwi. Zin on the other hand was in the process of writing a note of things to remember for Talnic.

My Dear Brother,

I know you think you are more knowledgeable then almost everyone, but please take this information to heart. I have been in Udsi Yvwi before and know well the areas that should be avoided and at least a few of the common scams the Thugs of the city will use to try and gain your coin, besides just taking them outright. In the city there is an area called Uyoiyudvnahedegi(Poor), you will be able to tell this area by the lack of Elven tree buildings, and the Human architecture will seem as if it is ready to fall over at a slight breeze. I beg of you to avoid this area, it is full of thieves and killers. I do not want to learn that you have been killed for no better reason then you were walking around the wrong part of the city. Further more, even in the better parts of the city there are people who will try to steal your money by convincing you to give it to them willingly, these people are known as Con-Artists. And indeed they have perfected the art of convincing people to give them money for nothing of true value in return.

I hope you find what you desire there, though for some reason I doubt you will. You were always one to know everything, and perfect everything you did, and in this pursuit I know you will find no contentment in Udsi Yvwi. Udsi Yvwi is a trading city, so lots of information passes though there, and its library is the second largest, but second was never a description of you, unless they were talking about when you were born. For one so young you have taught our fair town a lot, and insulted them more. I do not fault you for this, though even if I did you would claim the fault was our own and by trying to fault you we were just trying to alleviate our guilt and embarrassment, which may be true.

When you have found what you are seeking return and I will welcome you with open arms, but we both know you will never return and never truly find what you seek.

Zin Fisren

Sealing his letter with a dripping of wax. Zin placed it with the things his mother packed for Talnic.

"Hurry up Talnic the merchants wont wait forever. Don't forget your sling, we may need to hunt for food if the merchants don't have enough for us. I don't have time to prepare any Trail Rations, and Kerth sold the rest he had to the merchants." His father called
