Chapter 23: Playing The Game Of Life Together As One.

We were all Seated around the dinning table chatting and laughing like one big happy family . Julian and mom were talking like if they we long lost friends ,and Kyle and I, have just been laughing at our pranks on each other .

"Jess Sweetie can you bring the dessert that you made please "mom asked to caught up in the convo with Julian to move . I sighed and got up to get it .

Resting the dessert on the table everyone's mouth drop . "Close your mouths you look like you seen a ghost ."

"This looks so delicious " Julian said not taking his eyes off the cakes .

"Okay I can't wait no more am going in "mom said before grabbing a piece an putting it on her plate,everyone followed.
Loud sounds of Mmmmmm's filled the dinning room ,mom eyes twinkle with delight "you know you should start to cook desserts more often"

I choke on a piece off the cake ,Kyle dropped his cake instantly and began to hit my back I finally spited out the cake that was stuck in my windpipe, I drank some water .
"Excuse me ,I like to eat food not prepare it " I said as nicely as I could.

"Are you okay sweetie?"she asked referring to the cake thingy .

"Yeah am fine."

I turned to see Julian lost in his cake and I started to laugh this man is so silly , like the rabbit from on trix . I wonder if he was real I would've shit my pants if he just appeared and tried to steal my cereal,he would really have to be a silly rabbit indeed if he was silly enough to touch my cereal. His little rabbit ass would've been in chunks .

"Jess " I felt someone touch my leg ,I jumped up and yelled "silly rabbit ."

"What the hell " everyone said.

I felt so ashamed but I smile slyly ,that got Julian to stop stuffing his face . "You really are something " he said pointing his fingers at me.

I smiled and batted my lashes in a playful way "We all know this my partner in crime " we fist bump and sat back down .
Mom watched In awe at our bond before speaking "Thank you so much for being a father figure in Jessica's life I don't know if she told you ,but her father left when she was at a tender age so she grew up fatherless and motherless due to my absence but am back now . I can tell she adores you and I just wanted to thank you Julian for guiding my little odd ball of a daughter." She smiled and hugged Julian .

Then she looked at Kyle " and you my soon to be son in law . I know you two are back to basics friends but ,we all know it's temporary. You came into her life and changed her for the better you , made her smile and you stuck with her and am grateful to both you and you're father for being there for her and helping her find herself .I am ashamed I wasn't the one to do so,but am happy it was you guys to help her. So tonight am doing this not as a way to pay you back Julian but because I like Kyle and I know it will hurt you and Jess when you die that he has to live with people you don't know. I am asking you for custody of Kyle ."

I stared at my mother in shock as she said those last words then I literally jumped on her kissing her all over her face "OMG thank you thank you I love you soooooo much " I screamed kissing her again. Mom giggled every time I kiss her ,I came off her and sat back down like nothing happened. Mom straighten up herself before looking at Julian who wore a shock face.
I cleared my throat bringing him out of his shock. He blink repeatedly before watching mom and I with a unreadable expression then bursted into an award winning smile.
"I will love to give you full custody of my son. I know he will be in good hands and taken well care off . Thank you so much for putting my mind at rest as what would have happen to him when am gone , but I know now he'll be alright . Cassandra no need to thank me ,Jess is a lovely child she reminds me of my mother and myself ,when I was younger. She has a bright future ahead of her and she fills my life with happiness and joy like this kid sitting right next to me " he patted kyle's shoulder "over this months I've grown to love her like my own child and I am grateful that I got the chance to help her in this game of life ."
