"Oh h-hey... I'm Hyerim, nice to meet you," I say, looking up at the boy that stands before me. In an act of manners, I place out my hand for him to shake.
"Nice to meet you too!" Sehun exclaims enthusiastically with a smile on his face and accepts my hand shake. We both crack up in laughter again, remembering the events that had just taken place moments ago.
"Let's quickly make our way to Kyungsoo's place. We are pretty late to the party." I say and we starting picking up our pace. Even though our cake is demolished, we can still have a great time... I hope. As we walk in silence, I see Sehun wiping his face and butt and fixing his hair. He has a tall build and wide shoulders, which totally contradicts his five year old personality and happy eye smile.
He catches me staring and pulls me a funny face, making both of us laugh once again. "You train at SM, right?" He asks, making easy conversation, trying to lighten up the atmosphere.
"Yeah, just started this week, how about you?" I reply, trying to continue this conversation without making a fool of myself.
"I've been here since last year so I know this place pretty well. Maybe we can hang out sometime, I mean, it's okay if you don't want to but yeah? I'm not all weird, like you've seen today!" he asks, rambling.
"Of course," I laugh at his anxious face and reply with a laugh, which leads to a more comfortable silence falling upon us.
"Oh, there's something I'm curious about... that Jongin guy, what's he like?" I jokingly whisper, with a hand covering my mouth as if I'm telling a secret.
"Hmmmm, he's not very good looking, unlike me," Sehun jokes, but continues in a serious tone, "he's very closed off and the things I know about him... I don't think it's in my place to share. Sorry to break it to you."
"No it's o-okay... I think I'm being a bit invasive. I should be the one saying sorry," I apologise, even though I'm dying to know.
"I think he just needs someone he can rely on and poor his thoughts out to, I guess. I hope he finds someone soon," Sehun says gently, thinking to himself.
We turn into Kyungsoo's street and walk towards his place. I can already hear blasting music, reminding me of my dislike for parties. Opening the door to Kyungsoo's place, we walk in carefully, making sure we don't make too much of a hustle by our presence. The lights are flashing and people are dancing everywhere to the music, making it difficult for me to make my way through the crowd.
Sehun helps and guides me, pushing some out of my way. As we reach an kitchen bench where I can breathe, I look around. I see Sehun wandering around back to the crowd of girls, immediately cranking up some moves of his. He must be the party animal.
I can't seem to find Kyungsoo anywhere... where could he be? No one seems to approach me to make some conversation to me and there's no way I'm getting into that sea of people. The loud music is blasting in my ears and the crowd of people makes me a bit anxious and nauseous, but I tell myself to remain calm and cause no trouble.
The atmosphere makes me uncomfortable and I decide to go outside for a breath of fresh air. The cool breeze makes contact with my face, which doesn't make things any better since I hate the wind and cold in general. I stare into the sky, admiring the very few stars, as the clouds are covering most of it.
I feel someone moving closer to me, but I think that would be a stupid thought since I can hear all the noise coming from inside. No one would be even thinking of coming out here like me, who knows how much they must be enjoying it in there. The light shining from my right creates a reflection and a shadow can be seen nearing closer to me. I guess I was right, there is someone here.
It's a familiar figure, but I'm too scared to see who it is, just in case they're here to kidnap me or end my life all together. With hesitation, I end up turning my head slowly to the right to see a face right in front of mine, just inches away. I've only seen him once tonight, and I didn't really pay attention to him so it took me a while to recognise who he was. It's Jongin, with his hair swept to one side perfectly, and my heart begins to pound as I realise that our eyes are practically meeting.
I mentally slap myself before getting into an upright position and asking him, "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be inside?"
"Why would you think that? Is there a problem coming out here?" He says coldly, forming a slight smirk across his lips.
"N-no, s-sorry," I stammer, making myself look like an idiot.
"Why are you apologising? There's no need to," He replies, with a softer tone.
I can't even dare to make eye contact with him. Why is he even talking to me? Honestly, I was hoping to be alone for a bit so I could refresh my mind and not be stuck in a house full of drunk people. Silence grows between us and I just want to run away and hide to not make things even more awkward then they are now.
He breaks the tension by saying, "So... what do you think of the party?"
I hesitate before giving him a reply, "It's okay. It's just that parties aren't my sort of thing."
"Really? Same. I never found much fun in it," Jongin says with widened and hopeful eyes.
"I find that hard to believe, you seem like a total party animal," I say as I shoot a glance over to him and give a half-hearted smile. He raises an eyebrow at me, giving me an obvious "Really?" look. I nod in response and fold my arms as the summer wind gets stronger. I can see him staring at me from the close distance between us, which finds me frozen on the spot. He takes off his jacket, leaving him in a simple sweater and places it on my shoulders, which leaves my arms no longer exposed.
"Thank you," I mumble barely audibly, and he gives me a small smile back.
"Well, you should go in now, it's getting cold," He says reassuringly, gesturing his elbow over to the entrance of the room. And with that, he walks away right in front of my eyes, without saying anything more. I sigh heavily and follow him into the house until I nearly trip over something that seems to be metal. I gasp in the state of shock that I was close to losing my balance and falling down and eventually pick the item up cautiously and take it into my hands.
From its appearance, it seems like a necklace made out of silver shaped in a heart. There's no doubt that the silver which makes up the chain is rusty, so it must have been with someone for quite a while to become in this state. I bring the necklace closer to my eyes, and observe it to see any signs of who it might belong to. Looking at the small details, I figure out that there is a keyhole to open the heart, probably to find a picture inside.
I shake the necklace, in hope of the keyhole unlocking. I don't go to next level extremes and try to break it or anything, it looks to precious and I would probably be dead meat when the owner finds me. Well this is great. I stare at the necklace for a few moments and think to myself that I obviously cannot just leave it out here lying on the ground, and it's quite light which could lead it to blow away because of the wind. After a few seconds of utter cluelessness, I decide to keep it, not knowing if I find it as an act of selfishness or not.
There's a tiny chance I'll find the owner, so the only solution is if the owner finds me. If it's precious to them, they should be desperate into finding it and I feel bad that at this moment I can't do much to help them. Will we ever meet in the future? I guess fate can only tell...
