"Pearl! Pearl!" Steven's scream was heard through the white gem's door, and she put the most interesting human novel she was reading down on the very cold floor she was sitting on, stood, and went to answer it.
"Yes, Steven?" She answered, staring down at him with unimpressed eyes. She wasn't being rude, that was just how she was used to looking at someone.
"I made you tea, and some of those cakes you like!" He exclaimed enthusiastically.
"You mean crumpets and Earl Grey?" She muttered, much less happy about it than he was.
"I think so," He said. "Garnet said it was what you liked, so I fixed it. Um... She helped a little, though. Is that okay?"
Pearl smiled lightly at the thought of Garnet helping Steven fix tea and crumpets for her, chuckling a little as well.
"Of course it's okay," She said cheerfully. "C'mon. Let us go and try your concoction."
They walked across the wooden form, past the warp pad, and into what could be considered a kitchen, though it had a living room appeal to it as well.
"Good morning, Garnet." Pearl greeted the fusion happily, though she saw Garnet was staring at a page of the newspaper contently.
"Hello, Pearl." She said, without looking up. She still hasn't forgave Pearl fully for tricking her into fusing with her.
The white gem sighed. Though she clearly heard the scorn in Garnet's greeting, she still was grateful that the red amalgam was at least SPEAKING to her in some way once more.
"Hey, P!" Amethyst greeted cheerfully from the couch, appearing to be watching the TV. She seemed happy this morning.
'I wonder why,' Pearl thought. 'Oh well, I'll find out later.'
"Greetings, Amethyst. Are you having a good morning?" She decided to say.
"Yeah, I had like, three pieces of toast, five eggs, and, oh. I lost count on the bacon." The purple gem laughed that obnoxious laugh of hers, instantly giving Pearl a headache.
But, there was another feeling there? Pearl ignored it, maybe she was just uneasy this morning.
"It's not going to work out." Garnet muttered from her position on the couch. She looked at Amethyst, though, and her third eye sparkled from underneath her shades. She was using future vision... Was Amethyst getting the same feelings as Pearl?
"What?" The purple gem said aloud. "Are you doing that weird future thingy again?"
"Future vision," Pearl corrected automatically.
Amethyst just gave her a dirty look.
"And, yes, Garnet. Do tell. ARE you using future vision once more?" The white gem continued.
"No. I am talking to Ruby." Sapphire's voice answered the two, swaying Pearl a bit.
"Oh, sorry, Garnet... Er, Sapphire?" Pearl fumbled for words.
"Ugh, i'm going outside." Amethyst gruffly said out of nowhere.
Pearl was compelled to follow the younger purple gem, so she did. Amethyst trailed right to the edge of the ocean, and sat down on the sand, with the white gem right behind her.
Pearl's rear found the hot, mushy sand, and she squirmed at first. It was disgusting. She still didn't know how the others were comfortable while sitting on this.
"Amethyst, what's wrong?" She asked after getting situated.
"Oh, nothing, Pearl. You wouldn't care anyway." The purple gem reasoned.
"What's your problem, Amethyst? All I did was ask you what was wrong." Pearl snapped.
The purple gem stood, and sucked in a good bit of air before yelling,
"You're my problem, Pearl! You and Garnet always act like your better than me! Well, I AM trying, you know! I'm not perfect! And I am sorry that you have realized that, but I can't help that!" Tears streamed down her face.
"Am-Amethyst... I am sorry. You're right. We treat you like garbage. I can't believe I haven't noticed that yet. I'm sorry!" Pearl began crying as well.
Garnet and Steven watched silently from the porch.
"How could you not notice?" Amethyst said, laying her head in between her knees.
"I don't know! But I am sorry, Amethyst! Nobody should be treated like that!" The white gem practically screamed.
"You don't mean that...." Amethyst mumbled.
"Yes I do, Amethyst." Pearl had gotten significantly closer to the purple gem. "I meant every word."
"R-really?" Amethyst looked up, wiping a cloud of tears away from her face.
Pearl blushed lightly. "Yes, Amethyst." She wiped a tear the purple gem hadn't reached.
"So y-you'll try to stop?" The younger gem asked.
"I WILL stop, Amethyst. There isn't a 'try' to do with it." The white gem vowed.
"Promise?" Amethyst smiled easily.
"I promise." Pearl concluded truthfully.
"Heh. I don't even know what I'd do without your smart mouth, Pearl." The purple gem chuckled nervously.
"I can't pin you down, Amethyst. First, you're asking me to stop. Are you asking me to continue now?" The white gem asked, confused.
"No, Pearl. I've just been teased my whole life by you, and now that I don't have to deal with it, I don't know what to deal with instead." The younger gem explained.
"Well, there's always Steven to take care of," Pearl chuckled alongside the shorter girl.
"Heh. Yeah, P. And he'll always be here, too. He's part gem." Amethyst teased.
"Yep." Pearl agreed. "And we'll take care of him together. All three of us."
"Yup." Amethyst laughed her obnoxious laugh. "Together."
The white gem bent to hug the shorter woman, and gently wrapped her arms around her back.
"P, whaddaya' doin'? You've only ever hugged me once before, and that was at the kindergarten. Why now?" The purple gem was confused.
"It's supposed to be comforting, Amethyst." Pearl explained softly.
Breaking away, Amethyst let out a sigh of relief.
"Thanks, P." She said. "I feel better."
"Good!" The taller put a slender hand over her forehead to block out the sun.
They both walked towards the house together, talking along the way.
As Amethyst went inside the house, Garnet gripped Pearl's forearm harshly.
"What was that all about?" She snapped.
"That's not your business, Garnet. Amethyst may share with you I'd she pleases." Pearl answered with just as much scorn.
"Huh? How dare you! I am your leader, and I am supposed to be your friend, though you've already screwed that up, haven't you?!" The amalgam yelled, spraying spit in Pearl's face.
She picked Pearl up by her shirt, staring deep into her eyes, with hatred. "You. Will. Tell. Me."
"No, Garnet!" Pearl played a bold face. "I told you, if Amethyst wanted to tell you, she would've!"
Garnet through the white gem onto the porch roughly.
"I don't need you. I'll go beat it out of HER." She said.
"No! Amethyst, run!" Pearl mustered, smearing light blue liquid away from her left nostril.
"Oh, and I can't have YOU following me." The red fusion said, slamming her foot down onto Pearl's head a good three times.
"What's wrong... With... You, Garnet...?" Pearl barely managed to whisper.
After that, everything went black.
