It was the last day of August. It was nice outside, almost the perfect temperature, not being too hot but not being too cold either. Angaleena was walking with her best friends, Miranda and Ashley, down to the park. She had so many things to tell them about, she hated keeping secrets from them. Angaleena was in loose black tank top with a tighter white camisole top underneath, full length black leggings and her brown cowgirl boots.
She honestly still had no clue how she was going to tell Ashley and Miranda about her little secret, well really wasn't that little, but still. She was mostly silent for the walk to the park, talking every once in a while so they wouldn't ask her what was wrong. She was honestly a little surprised that they hadn't caught on why she had been wear loose shirts for the last two months.
She ran her fingers through her brown hair as they got to the park that was just down the road from Miranda's house. It was a decent sized park with good sized grass field, a basketball court, and jungle gym. They had been coming to this park since she and Miranda were in fifth grade, while Ashley was in fourth. She and Miranda were sophomores now, while Ashley was a freshman. Angaleena was turning sixteen the next day but with what she had gotten herself into, her parents weren't letting her have a party, except for a family dinner.
They made their way over to the large oak tree that was in the corner of the park. They were the only people there at the moment besides the few boys that were playing basketball on the other side of the park. Angaleena opened the water bottle, that Miranda's mom, Bev, made them bring and took a few sips of it. She knew that she was going to need some water before she told them about what her secret was.
She turned more towards Miranda and Ashley before she said," I need to talk to you guys, it's important." She knew that got their attention when she sat that because they turned fully towards her.
Miranda turned completely towards Angaleena with Ashley sitting next to her. She smiled slightly before she said," What about?"
Angaleena knew that she had to come out and say it because she had their attention now. She couldn't back out of telling them now, considering it's better to tell them sooner rather than later. She was silent for a moment before she spoke up," Uh, I'm um. I'm pregnant."
Ashley looked at Angaleena for a few moments before she looked at Miranda. They both looked back at Angaleena, who at this point had tears running down her cheeks. They moved more towards her, wrapping her in a hug. After about two minutes, they pulled away from the hug and Miranda said," Ang, why didn't you tell us sooner?"
Angaleena wiped her tears from her cheeks and eyes after they pulled away from the hug. She shrugged her shoulder before she said," I thought y'all were going to hate me and never to talk to me again."
Ashley said," We could never hate you, Ang. You're our best friend." Miranda nodded in agreement with what Ashley said. They could never hate her. She said," Why do you look like you have something else to tell us?"
Angaleena smiled at them before Miranda brought up that it looked like she had something else to tell them. She was right, she did have another thing to tell them. It wasn't as big as the pregnancy news but it was still pretty big news. She nodded and said," I do. Mama and Daddy are having me get married to Shane. They want their grandchild to have married parents."
Miranda said," Do y'all already have it planned?" Ashley nodded before she said," When is it?"
Angaleena nodded as she listened to their questions. She knew that they already knew that they were invited to the small wedding that they were having. She ran her fingers through her hair. She said," Yeah, Mama and I already have it all planned out. It's going to be in two weeks before I get any bigger and can't hid the pregnancy."
Miranda and Ashley smiled and nodded at her. They leaned in and gave her another hug.
