Meskhenet always thought that she would live an ordinary life, among the ordinary people that lived their ordinary lives in the city of Abydos, a smaller city of all the many in the great Upper Egypt. But she soon finds out that she could never have been more wrong. She is the only daughter of Pharaoh Ptolemy's most trusted and honored general. despite her father's high position in court, she never in her wildest dreams thought that she would be anything more than some boy's wife who's father had money and just a small amount of power, just enough to make her father agree to the proposal of marriage.
But her whole view point of the world and her life changes when Pharaoh's daughter, Princess Cleopatra, is murdered. her death is hidden from the world as not to arouse grief and suspicion throughout Egypt. But there are alternative reasons. She and her family are surprised when Pharaoh comes to visit them himself and takes an immediate interest to Meskhenet.
They all soon see that she is the exact image of the king's deceased daughter. Same age, same high cheek bones, evenly set eyes, smooth, honey colored skin. Now the Pharaoh's true intention's are revealed. He wants to take Meskhenet back to the great city of Alexandria with him, and pose her as Cleopatra, the Crown Princess of Egypt. everyone in her family is all in agreement, the answer is no. But, how can Meskhenet to refuse when the great and mighty Pharaoh threatens to torture her family until she agrees? She cant, and so her journey begins.
Her new life living in Alexandria at the palace as Cleopatra changes everything she has ever learned, ever known, ever dreamed. She tries her best to make her true identity and the death of the true Crown Princess a secret, but when some of her personal servants realize that she does not bare the birthmark that Cleopatra did, a small mark on the back of her right shoulder that resembles the head of a horse, rumors spread through the palace and the city like wildfire that she is an imposter. Will Meskhenet be able to hide her own identity and save her family and her own face? Or will the secret's she and the royal family had been trying to keep finally be exposed and Cleopatra's death revealed?
