Rick and Shane are on a lunch break one day when they get a call on the radio "we have a grey car on the run and firing at officers!"Rick and Shane then slam on the gas,and head that way.When they arrive they then pull a spike strip across the road,with officer Leon Bassett along in another car with his fellow partner.They then hear sirens,loud engines,and gun shots,then the criminals zoom across the spike strip,"POW!" They head popped all 4 tires,sending them into a death roll in the vehicle and rolling right off the road into a field right next to the road!The officers approach the car slowly with guns pointed at the car,then one of the men kick the door open and start firing."BOOM!"POW" the man had shot Rick in the chest he falls to the ground and Shane shoots the criminal!Rick gets up in no pain."did it get your vest?"asked Shane"yeah!"replies Rick,"we never EVER speak of this to Lori,Ok Shane!?"yeah man"replies Shane "BOOM!"another man had escaped the car and shot Rick right in the heart and lung area!Shane shoots the man,and then yells "Leon get an ambulance her now!" You stay with me man!"Rick is then put in a hospital and is in a coma for weeks,Shane visits him every day. Then one day....., something happened......, people were rapidly dying,and turning into some kind of cannibalistic monster,Shane rushes to the hospital to try and get Rick,he won't budge,Shane assuming he is dead then pushes a hospital bed in front on the door to Ricks room. A few weeks later Rick wakes up replying to something Shane had said on his last visit as if no time had passed.He then tries to get up and falls,"nurse help!nurse!"he says,then gets up and goes to the bathroom and turns on the sink and starts gulping down water,then he goes into the hall and notices the lights are flickering,then he goes up to a door and looks into the glass and sees a dead body rotting ,he is frightened by the sight.He then backs away from the glass in fear,then turns around and walks toward what used to be the cafeteria,there is a message on the door reading"don't open dead inside" as the door shakes and wiggles rotten fingers slowly slip through the crack of the chained door. He then turns around and runs to an elevator,pushes the button many times,nothing happened,he finds a box of matches,then runs to the stairs,he opens the door and walks in,it is pitch black in there,he lights a match,then walks down one flight of stairs,the match goes out,so he lights another one,and  walks down another 2 flights and finds an exit.Once he walks out there he finds hundreds of bodies in the backs of trucks and lined up on the ground prepared neatly in rows.He then runs up a hill and onto the street and to his house,he runs in yelling "Lori!!!Carl!!" No response,he notices all their clothes and family pictures were gone,he assumes they have left for a refugee camp in Atlanta Georgia.He walks a couple more blocks down and sits on a curb,thinking of how worried his wife and son could be,and where they are,and if they are ok.He hears foot steps behind him ,it was a small boy,he looks over his shoulder and says"Carl?"assuming Rick was a walker the boy then smacks him in the head way shovel! "I got him dad I'm gonna kill this thing!"The boys dad then runs over to see,"son what did he say?"he called me Carl!"replies Duane, Rick barely awake then repeats "Carl?" The boys dad asks him "what is the wound from?!" Rick then blacks out.He wakes up in the boy and his dad's house,the boys dad hands Rick a glass of water,"thank you" Rick says in confusion,the boys dad then repeats "what is the wound from?"were you bit?" "Bit?" Rick replies with confusion. The boys dad then says"if you're bit by one of the dead ones you turn" "it's a gun shot "replies Rick. The boys dad says"I'm Morgan this is my son Duane " "Rick" he replies,"who's Carl?"says Morgan "my son..,why do you ask?replies Rick"you called Duane Carl before he knocked you out"says Morgan. The three then head to the living room where Morgan and Duane slept,they then look out the window to a herd of walkers,Duane then says"there she is daddy!" Morgan replies "go lay down son,don't look!" " who?"Rick adds in concern,"Jenny...,my wife" in such sadness Duane starts to cry,Morgan rushes into him to calm him down before he attracts attention from walkers.Rick walks over to the front door and looks through the peephole to see Jenny the Walker glaring through as well ,the Walker then starts to wiggle the door knob.Morgan then says we should go to sleep and wait them out through the night.The three went to sleep,the next day Morgan and Duane were teaching Rick how to kill a walker,the three walk outside where a walker laid up against a fence post,"remember it's gotta be the brain "says Morgan,Rick starts beating the walker with a baseball bat until the head is squashed. He then grabs his gunshot wound in pain"you alright?"says Morgan,"yeah just need to sit"replies Rick,they then go back inside,"my family, I think their alive "says Rick "how could you be so sure?"replies Morgan. They then go to Ricks house "all their clothes are gone"says Rick "anyone could have came in here and taken them"replies Morgan."but so are our family photo albums "says Rick,"what kind of robber would steal family photos "he adds"they could have gone to the refugee camp in Atlanta"adds Duane.Rick then says "I've gotta find them.....,or at least try" then Morgan says "if you do then you're going to need guns"Rick replies saying "I know a place, I was a sheriffs deputy "the three then head to what used to be the sheriff station and gun locker,when they arrive Rick breaks the chain off the door with bolt cutters,then grabs a black duffle bag and starts filling it with gun and ammo,Morgan grabs a few as well,the three then go to the shower room to see if there was any warm water,Rick turns the faucet on and puts his hand in the spraying water and says"the waters warm,the station has its own hot water tank,must still have a bit left "Morgan looks at Rick in excitement,the three then take showers Rick and Morgan bragging about how nice it was to finally have a shower,while Duane is singing in joy.the three get out and put their clothes on,Rick and Morgan are sitting in the bench talking about ricks adventure to Atlanta,"you two should come with me "Rick says to Morgan,Morgan replies saying "we would love to but Duane will need a lot of practice with a gun,and it wouldn't hurt for me to get a little in before the trip either,Duane walking passed the two still in a towel says to Rick "where can I change at?" Rick replies saying "over there to your right there's a changing room" Duane walks toward it as Morgan says the to him "what do you say Duane?" Duane turns back around and says "thank you sir" the three then walk out back where the cars are Rick carrying his duffle bag of guns,Morgan carrying their guns,when they get to the cars Rick begins loading his bag and other supplies,he turns around and says to Morgan "you sure you guys don't wanna come with me?" Morgan replies saying "no like I said we both need to get some practice in" as Rick turns his head he notices a walker at the fence he then says"I knew him....,Leon Basset,we weren't best friends but I knew him...,he was a stupid young kid..,a rookie " he then shoots the walker in the head. The three get in two separate cars,Morgan and Duane in one,and Rick in another,Morgan and Duane head back to their house ,while Rick heads to Atlanta.
Back at Morgan's house him and Duane are sitting on the living room floor as a few walkers are out on the street in front of the house,Morgan says to Duane "I'll be upstairs,just stay down here and read your comics " he then heads up the stairs to the top floor,he has his rifle up there,he looks through the scope to shoot a few walkers ,then sees the walker jenny,he tries his best to build up his strength to shoot her,but fails . Duane downstairs hears the gunshots and begins to cry knowing what Morgan was doing. Rick is on his way to Atlanta when he gets out to shoot a walker that had bit at him earlier.
