"So when are you visiting?" There was some shuffling on his end before a response came in.
"Next week. I still got exams this week but next week is Spring Break." Something shattered through the phone and my brother cursed. "Sorry, sis, I got to go. Bye." The line went dead.
I love my rare sibling chats. They almost never happen. I stared up at my black ceiling. Tuesday. What is up with that? Tuesday sounds so, Tuesday. It makes me want to just lay there and enjoy everything passing by.
It's like Monday but not as boring. It just feels calm. Tuesday. Nothing could ruin this moment.
"Eris! Get your ass down here!" Except for my mother.
With a groan, I sat up from the bed and went downstairs. I found my mom leaning against the granite counter with her arms crossed. She looked very upset. "Yes, mom?"
She slid to the left and revealed a sink full of dishes. Oh yeah, I was told to deal with them this morning. I gave my mom a nervous smile.
"I love you mom?" She squinted her eyes at me then pointed at the sink.
"Do them." Then she walked away. I headed over to the dirty dishes and shrugged. At least she didn't throw a plate at me like she did to Bryce over Christmas Break.
While I was loading the plates into the dishwasher. Two little feet ran up to my leg and latched on. I nearly dropped a plate. I looked down at the little person and grinned. "Hey Carter."
He looked up at me with his big blue eyes and long eyelashes. "Roller was chasing me." I ran my hand through his silky straight brown hair. My six year old brother held onto my leg even tighter.
"Where's Roller now?" I placed two bowls into the dishwasher.
"I dunno." His voice dropped a octave. I swear this kid is so cute. I laughed.
"You wanna see a movie later?" He hesitated before nodding his little head. "Okay, go upstairs to your room and put on your shoes. We'll leave in," I examined the sink of dishes. "Five minutes now go. Go."
He ran as fast as his little feet would carry him. Oh Carter. Finishing up the chore, I went upstairs for my shoes then jogged back downstairs to find Carter sitting in front of the door. "Ewri! What took you so long!"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." He hopped up from the carpet and opened the door for me. "My little gentlemen." He blushed. We got into my car and started driving to the theaters. "So what do you want to see?"
"Umm...Duwassic World." I grinned.
"You got yourself a deal little buddy."
"Ewri!" Crap! I totally forgot.
"I'm sorry. I meant big guy." He smiled, flashing all of his little white teeth. The rest of the drive consisted of Carter playing 20 Questions. I loved the kid to death but geez, he talked a lot.
When we arrived at our destination, I held on to Carter's hand when crossing the road. He straightened his black tie when we entered the place. Oh yeah, ever since my brother and I watched Classic Man by Jidenna, Carter decided he was going to dress better. As in he now where's vests, collar shirts, dress pants, and ties. It really got the ladies attention.
I started getting the ticket's and popcorn when I realized Carter's missing presence. I turned around and found him surrounded by a bunch of girls my age. I hurried over and pulled him away. The girls whined and complained but I ignored them. "What did I tell you about running off?"
"That I shooent' do it. But they like me."
"They're too old for you."
"Cockblocker." My eyes widened. I think the world just ended. What did my little brother just say?
