I walk through the empty street. The mud covered the street with a gruesome perfection. I passed the pharmacist, and disappeared through the market. My honey hair hidden under my wool hood as I hear the Royal announcer.
He wears a fine coat of leather. He doesn't seems old, but the fear on his face seems undefined. The crowd gathers to hear the next of kingdoms decisions. When he first speaks, his voice seems shaken.
"Citizens of Norta, I gather you today from the honor of our gre-"he stops and inhales. He wipes his forehead from his speat and continues. "Our great Ruler, King Richton has made this land like no other. After two decades of ruling, he started from scratch, and built this beloved kingdom. Today we honor our love, and pride to our; he exhales. To our late k-king"
The crowd bursts into gasps. Shock spread through us in a sudden tone.
No one expected. no one couldn't believe what they heard, but I did. I expected the day the kings days will be over
. he lived long enough.
Everyone cheered around me.
my smile hidden under my mischief hood. Happiness overtook me.
Finally this day has come. The day King Richton has finally rested in a place were he belongs, into sweet, sweet hell. He's years has ended. 20 years of ruling our holy land, turning its beauty into muddy roads. He drowned our people with perfect lies. He made the people hate him with his torture. Nobody knew that he was the one who assainated their beloved king. He burned books, every fact that has evidence of Pradia.
Oh yes, Pradia.
The fallen land.
I stood at the end of the street were I watched the riots. People broke into stores, and stole. Others hidden in the homes, partying.
I ran to Grandfathers house. "Grandfather!"
He sat in his wooden chair. His faded blue eyes fixed on me. His face full of worry. "What is it? I never saw you such happy" He narrowed his eyes. "Is it- did it happen?"
My smile wider then ever. "May he rest in hell"
His face changed. I never seen him so relaxed in his life. "Finally: he said.
I sat next to him. " He's day finally ended, finally grand papa! He's gone, and we will never live in fear again"
He's smile fainted.
I knew that was wrong. Fear will always haunt us until we die.
"Even if he they burn his ashes, he's heir will continue his dirty work"
I stood and looked at the window. Everyone were in the streets, dancing and looking happier then ever. The late king knew he's life wont live much longer. He married Queen Natalia of Winlock, or what our people call her, Queen of Dirt. She gave birth to a boy. The king made celebrations that lasted 100 days to celebrate the birth of his heir. That was before he started to send our people to wars to die.
After several years, the queen died. No one knew how. The royal nobles never seen it coming. She was in her best health and too young to die, but too bad. Rumors said that the king murdered her while having an affair with his advisor. I believed that rumor, because it was announced that The kings royal advisor was found dead the day before. After that the king murdered women who cheated on men in the kingdom. he actually not only did that, but executed any women who wanted a divorce. Since then, women weren't aloud to come near palace grounds.I Look at grand papas tired face and try to remember the name of our new ruler.
King Dimitri Von of Norta
I felt bad my people them. They will make up tomorrow with a new king, who will continue to send them to wars, to work until there flesh fades.
I wish I could do anything to save my country from destruction. I want my people to live in hope, not in fear. Should I believe that nothing is impossible? But I knew that I can't stop my country from turning into ashes. After all.... I'm just a hopeless slave girl."You are right Grand papa, this isn't the end" I said.
"This is just the beginning"
