BUCKY'S POV

I leaned forward, peeling Sarah away from the guy. The intensity with which she questioned the guy worried me. She never got this angry- I wondered if it was because she had another to protect.

"Sarah," I said quietly, and she blinked, snapping out of it. She looked at the guy who was frozen to the floor again and frowned.

"I-I'm not sure what came over me. Sorry," she told me, and I rubbed her shoulder softly.

"It's not a big deal. Now unfreeze him so we can get on with our day."

She nodded and concentrated, her hand stretched out towards the agent, and suddenly the ice melted into water, flowing right to Sarah's feet before disappearing. The guy got up quickly and scurried away.

After a few moments of silence, filled only with the sound of heavy breathing, we all quietly shuffled to the elevator. Bodies littered the lobby and the streets outside, the smell of blood tainting our noses. We had to step over their carcasses just to get to the button.

The ride upstairs was equally as silent. The clock on the wall read 5:22 in the morning. All of us were probably thinking the same thing- it's too early to kill.

When we reached the top level, JARVIS greeted us.

"Welcome back Avengers. And may I say, job well done. Shall I ring Director Fury?"

Tony swatted at the air, shaking his head at the idea before collapsing on the couch.

"Just call him in like an hour and tell him what happened, without me. I am way too tired for this bullshit."

"Yes sir," JARVIS replied.

The adrenaline had worn off, and everyone was absolutely exhausted, even me and Steve. We staggered back to our rooms once Tony rebooted the defense and alarm system. The alarm will definitely wake us back up if necessary.

However halfway to our room I lightly wrapped my fingers around Sarah's arm, guiding her to the elevator to get Calypso. In her tired state she probably forgot.

Once we got all the way down to the bunker, we rushed from the elevator to the crib in the corner. Sarah's arms reached down and engulfed little Calypso.

"It's okay, it's okay. Mommy's got you," she whispered to her, and I realized that that was the first time I've ever heard Sarah refer to herself as mom.

I reached in and enveloped them both, kissing the top of Calypso's head. Her brown eyes stared at me in wonder and I couldn't help but be envious of her. She had two parents who would fight for her no matter what, a whole life ahead of her, and no terrible past she would have to deal with. I almost wish I could have a new, clean slate, but then I remembered that if I did I never would have met Sarah.

After a few moments I released them, and Sarah rested Calypso on her hip as we headed back to the elevator. I feel like we've been on it a hundred times today already.

On the ride back up, Sarah played with Calypso. She covered her face with her hands and went, "where did mommy go?" as Calypso squealed with delight. Then Sarah would move her hand and say, "peek a boo!" while Calypso started laughing hysterically. It was so friggin cute.

I took Calypso in my arms once we got back to our room, allowing Sarah to change out of her catsuit. I held her with my real arm, not wanting to pinch her skin with my metal one, and pretended to steal her nose. When she started crying, I returned it to her, and she giggled and clapped her hands together. She was literally a ray of sunshine.

Sarah then took her back and began feeding her as I de-weaponed myself and took off my uniform. I remained shirtless, simply sliding on some sweatpants, and laid down next to Sarah who had almost finished feeding Calypso. I lightly rubbed Sarah's back with my fingertips, watching as goosebumps raised on her skin. I smirked at the effect I had on her.

"We have a family, Bucky. How weird is that?" Sarah whispered, grinning slightly as she watched Calypso's eyelids fall. I smiled, sitting up and taking Calypso once she finished. I crossed my legs and placed her in my lap, staring at her adorable self.

"I never thought I'd be a parent. At least not after the fall."

Sarah rested her head on my shoulder, rubbing her thumb across the back of my hand. I breathed in her familiar scent and realized how completely happy I was right now.

"Well, you're amazing at it."
