Thorin and I walk down the halls with our fingers interlocked. "When I left I told you there were things that you needn't to see here."
"I think I do remember you saying that."
"Well...my grandfather is kind of a part of that situation-"
"I know...he's sick." I cut him off. Thorin stops walking and turns to me.
"Who told you that?" I instantly regret saying it now.
"No one...I just," I sigh. "Lyam suspected something to be wrong, Mr. Bernly told me gold was making him sick."
"What else did he mention?"
"A king's jewel...Arkenstone."
"Ed...you can't say a thing to anyone. Got it?" His voice drops to a whisper.
"Thorin...I wouldn't speak to anyone about these secrets."
"Thorin!?" I hear a shout then I turn my head to see Frerin. His face is filled with worry.
"What is it brother?"
"Father...he wishes to speak with you at once. What happened!?" Balin rounds the corner with a dwarf I haven't seen before. His face is full of worry as well.
"Will someone escort Edlyn to my room?" Balin steps forward but the dwarf next to him places his hand in front of him. Thorin looks at me one last time before leaving and then the dwarf that was with Balin hooks his arm in mine, he is pretty tall for a dwarf too.
"Dwalin...at your service." He says in hearty tone.
"Edlyn...at yours..."
"So...you got'a thing for Prince Thorin?"
"Yes...I do actually, are you related to Balin?" He looks at me and winks.
"My brother, you're good." I chuckle.
"It's only obvious."
"I like you...no wonder why Thorin has taken a likin' to ya." That's when he lets go of my arm and pushes the large golden doors open. "Here's your stop Lady Edlyn." I walk through the doors and turn back to him smiling. He bows and then I curtsy, he pulls the doors shut. I couldn't count how long I sat on the bed watching the doors till Thorin came bombarding through them causing me to jump. They slam behind him, his breathing is ragged and I can tell how angry he is. I slowly get off the bed. He walks over to me and I slide my hand on his cheek.
"In the morning you should return to Dale..." His voice is shaky.
"And leave you!? Thorin I've done it twice...I don't think-"
"Edlyn...please. You can come to see me." I feel anger starting to come over me.
"I think it'd be best if I just left now!" I yell pushing passed him. He grabs my waist pulling me back against his hard body.
"Edlyn...don't do this now. We will talk about the situation in the morning, let me get you a comfortable gown to sleep in."
"Alright..." I relax against him. He takes the circlet off of my head and then unbraids my hair. When he leaves the room I let out a breath I'd been holding in. It takes him awhile to come back but when he does his hair is all down the only thing still braided is his beard. He's also in comfortable looking clothes. "Here." He hands me a baby blue gown. I smile taking it.
"Could you unbutton this dress...?" He unbuttons it and I go in the bathroom to change. When I come out he sits in a arm chair.
"Fits?"
"Perfectly."
"Good...now get some rest." He walks over to the bed pulling covers down. I slowly walk over and climb into it. When he pulls the covers over my body he starts toward the door.
"What is so bad about sleeping with me?" I sit up. He turns back around.
"I did not know-"
"Well of course..." He walks back to the bed and gets in it as well. When he gets settled in I scoot closer laying my head in the crook of his neck. I try to sleep but my side starts bugging me so I have to turn over. Thorin pulls the covers up more and then slides an arm around my body. His large body protecting mine.
