You smile at the concern the message exudes through the thin glass of your tablet screen as you subconsciously press your fingers against the light switch on the dirty, stained white wall of your bedroom. Now engulfed in darkness, you use the soft blueish glow of the screen to illuminate the path to your twin-sized bed across your bedroom. Your boyfriend, Dillon, was a bit overprotective of you, and ever since you told him of the nightmares and sleep deprivation that plagued you almost nightly, he made sure every night that you knew he would be there to listen if you had another terrifying dream.
I will. You reply to his message with a slight smile as you slide into your bed, careful not to wake Norma Jean. She was your beautifully silver-blue kitten, only 5 weeks old. A gift from your father as a way to somehow buy your forgiveness for leaving you and your mother. You didn't care for him -at all really- so it was easy to forgive him for leaving... not much else though.
Switching on your television, you turn your attention to reddit, browsing the front page while some stupid Adult Swim show buzzed in the back of your mind. You really enjoyed browsing /r/nosleep, especially late at night.
At around 3 AM (I wish I could fall asleep as fast as Dillon does), you finally decide it's time to put your tablet down and get some sleep. You leave the quiet blare of the TV on, as it's easier for you to fall asleep with some sort of sound playing, with the exception of music.
You're a step away from entering the gates of Dreamland when a sudden thought jolts you from your bed.
School starts tomorrow. You switch on your computer screen and open your notepad program. Why did I take AP English?
You'd been given 6 different writing assignments throughout the summer, and being the basically-professional procrastinator that you are, you haven't even started one.
Looks like no sleep for me.

Hi guy! This is my second story here, and I've kind of decided to abandon my first, since I don't really know where I intended to go with it. It's been so long since I've updated it ^^;
This one is going to get much better and way more interesting, I just needed a simple way to set up the story and introduce a few main characters.
