I woke up at 4:30 AM to finish packing. I don't understand why people dress up for the airport. I got my sweatshirt that Jake sent me with his last name on it and his jersey number (7). I wore it to bed almost every day. I got my most comfortable pair of sweatpants and packed some last minute things. "Katie are you ready!? We have to go!" I ran downstairs with my suitcase slamming it against every step making a loud noise. "Shh the kids are sleeping!" I picked it up and carried it to the trunk. The airport was 30 minutes away but the security check line was extremely long. My mom left me at the gate and told me to be careful and not do anything stupid. I sat down and waited for them to call my flight. Jake was still sleeping so I didn't bother calling him. I was hungry though, looking around I saw a pretzel stand. Even though it was still 5:30 in the morning, it's never too early for a pretzel! I got it and sat back down at my gate. I put my beats on and started listening to music. Thinking out loud was the first song and I smiled because Jake and I agreed that would be our wedding song. They called my flight row over the intercom and I got up and showed the flight attendant my boarding pass. It's not the first time I'm flying alone. I've been flying alone ever since I was eight years old. Every time before I board the plane I draw a cross on the side of it. I don't know why, maybe it's just for good luck. My suit case was extremely heavy and this older guy saw me struggling so he put it up on the rack for me. I got the window seat and I was so glad. The flight was going to be 5 hours so I got my blanket, pillow, and my beats out, getting ready to sleep the whole way through. I texted my mom telling her I was about to take off and then I texted Jake telling him the same thing. I knew he wouldn't reply but he'll see it while I'm flying.
The plane took off but the pilot told us it would be a bumpy ride. I fell asleep as soon as we took off. But I was woken by the lady next to me screaming. Everyone was freaking out and I heard the pilot telling everyone to calm down. I looked outside and saw dark clouds surrounding us. I started having a panic attack and I didn't know what to do. My heart was beating extremely fast, I was getting dizzy and my breathing was speeding up. The lady next to me was trying to calm me down by asking me questions like what's your name? Where are you from? Stuff like that. After a few minutes later everyone calmed down and the plane was safely flying. Defiantly my scariest flying experience yet!
When we landed I took my phone out and saw a text from Jake saying "hey baby can't wait to see you, call me when you land, I love you!" I called my grandma first though, because she was the one picking me up. I stepped outside and forgot how cold it was in March here! Jeez there was snow on the ground and I could see my breath smoke. I got in my grandmas car giving her a big hug. "Hey sweetie pie! How you been? How was the flight?" She said with her big perfect teeth smile. "Good and scary but good haha" she turned the heater on and I leaned into the air vents. We talked about how my family was doing and how hers was too. I got my phone out and called Jake.
"Hey babe I'm in the car now, how are you?" "Good baby about to go ice skating with some friends. Hey! Maybe you could come!" I gasped shocked. I didn't expect to see him tonight. I look like a mess! "Umm I'm not sure... I don't look so good right now haha" my grandma looked at me and said "Hun you should go! I'll drive you if they drive you back!" That made me even more nervous. "Please baby I can't wait to see you, I bet you look beautiful! I want you to meet my friends. And I look like crap too don't worry" I gave in. "Okay fine but could your mom or someone drive me back home?" "Sure baby I'll text you the address, love you." "Love you too, I'll see you in 20 minutes" I said with a shaky voice. I was so nervous oh my god! I went to the back of the car to find my makeup bag and put on some foundation and mascara and lipgloss. Wow I'm actually gonna go meet Jake! I think I'm more exited than nervous!
