ELAINE'S POV
"This is just a dream" I whispered to myself as I closed my locker and hurriedly enter my first class. Nobody is around as I was quite early. So I took the seat beside the window at the back and started calming myself as my anxiety started.
I just turned 16 and about to start senior high when suitors started flocking my way. This fact shocked me to my core. I always knew I was not attractive in my junior years. You see I looked typical with straight jet black hair that runs down to my waist, semi rounded face, big black eyes, red full lips and a fair complexion that stands 5 feet and 5 inches tall. A straight A student, president of the Oratorical and Drama club, a church choir member, conservative and does not involve in any sports related activities. I do have friends even guy friends but never once I tried to take on crushes or puppy loves. I was the wallflower on parties. I was a very boring teenage nerd and yet a responsible eldest daughter. Dont get me wrong here, I do love what I do and even push myself more. So you see when I say I was shocked to find myself attracting attention from not just the male population but also the female, and it was not out of jealousy but physical attraction, anxiety attacks became my constant companion.
As soon as I saw my twin bestfriends, Jae and Jazz Matthews walking inside the classroom I dragged them to the back and gave them a rundown of my dilema. Jae, the seductress just shrugged and flipped her hair while Jazz mirrored my dilema. Before the twins can give me their thoughts the bell rang and a handsome young man came striding in. The class started dreamily as most of my females classmates ogled the new practice teacher while I felt uneasy in my chair as if someone was staring. Looking around the class for the source of my uneasiness, I came upon the most expressives pair of light brown eyes I ever laid upon and it belongs to The Player. The Captain of the Basketball Varsity, Walter Davis. I tried to shrug it off and started focusing on my book.
At lunch break I sat at the farthest table waiting patiently for the twins as they slowly ease their way through the crowd. Ignoring the stares of the varsity team on the other end of the room I started eating my salad.
"Elaine Jacobs, just relax. In all honesty you should be flattered cause all our junior years I wanted to catch Walter's attention but all I ever got was a small smile when he accidentally bumped into me while his team were goofing around in the hallway." Jae said with her best seductive voice. Jazz on the other hand made a "dont listen to her" face as she ate her subway sandwich. "Ok, so the circulating rumor says you are the next target of Walter. Oh, and some say its because you blossomed in a blink of an eye. Since you are maturing girlfriend you apparently unleashed your sex appeal that got most of the male population here in our campus crazy over you." Jae says as she munched on her apple. "Just dont mind her and everyone Elaine. Just act normal. Be yourself. Focus on your goal." Jazz says as she finishes her lunch.
"Thanks girls as usual you both helped me realize and understand the situation. I will do my best to focus in my goals" I said as we all stood up and went our separate ways for our afternoon classes. The next couple of days the whole Varsity team kept on teasing and even tried to make a move on me luckily I have the twins to ward them off. This became a routine throughout the year and at our last year as a Senior I finally decided to take a chance with Walter Davis. We went on group dates with the twins and some of Walter's team mates. I even attended and dressed for the prom. Everything was quite perfect I was happy with my boyfriend, the twins also have theirs. I landed on the valedictorian award and was accepted to my dream college. Then our graduation after party came. It was held at the Davis' lake side mansion. It was the most wild party that I've ever attended but what the heck in two months I'll be 18 and off to college. The party was at full swing when all of a sudden Walter took me outside and led me on the other side of the lake where a small cabin was situated. Inside rose petals and scented candles were leading to the den where the fireplace was lit and a plush carpet with beanbags and champagne awaits us.
"Let us toast to our future Elaine." Walter held out two flute glasses as I sat on one beanbag. "This is quite romantic Walter. Thank you!" I said after we toast. We were halfway through the bottle when I started feeling dizzy and when I looked at Walter he had this evil smile and evertyhing went black.
