"You hate Christmas, don't you?" He said, his green eyes shining.
"No..." Wednesday said. "I love Christmas. It's arguably the most wonderful time of the year." She was about to smile, but the boy shook his head and sighed.
"It's not okay to hate Christmas, friend. You need some help."
"But I don't hate - "
"What's your name?"
"Wednesday."
His eyebrow twitched and so did his mouth. "It's funny because you're wearing black and your hair is in pigtails so you look like Wednesday Addams."
Wednesday rolled her eyes. "My hair only looks good in pigtails and my brother Dennis - who is an absolute menance, you don't understand - my brother Dennis dyed all of my clothes black and my mum and dad won't buy me new ones because they say it builds character."
"Uh huh." She could tell he didn't believe her. "What's your real name?"
"... I told you. It's Wednesday."
"No it's not."
"Are you my birth certificate?" He shook his head. "Then how do you know my name isn't Wednesday?"
"Because... no reason." He shrugged.
"My name is honestly Wednesday Kane." She said. "Honestly."
"Really, now? I'm Timmy." He stuck out his hand and stared at her with a smile.
Wednesday couldn't tell if that smile was making fun of her or not, but she took his hand catiously. "And I'm going to make you LOVE Christmas."
"I already love - "
"No, you don't."
"What is your problem?" She asked him.
"My problem is that it's almost Christmas!"
"Wednesday!" Timmy hollered in a sing song voice from the living room.
Wednesday cursed to herself, wondering why her comic strip loving mum let him inside the house again. Maybe because Timmy appreciated 'the art of comic strips' as much as she did.
She got off her chair at the dining table and wandered to where he was standing, wearing a Christmas jumper that said 'Tickle My Baubles' and had a blue bauble on it. He was also sporting a bright red Santa hat that made her feel sick, and an even brighter red mystery bag that Wednesday was dreading to know the contents of.
"Hi, 'Nesday!" He said, tipping his hat and grinning.
"What did you call me?" She asked, slightly shocked. If possible, his grin widened and he even giggled a little bit.
" 'Nesday! It's your new nickname."
"Oh dear." She sighed. "Listen, Timmy, I don't do nicknames. My name is Wednesday Friday Kane and nothing else."
His eyebrow quirked slightly and Wednesday could see he wanted to laugh at her name. She almost told him to go for it, it wouldn't have been the first time someone had done so.
"Is your middle name really Friday?"
"Yes, it really is."
"Well," He said, snickering a little bit "Who do we thank God for?" He said, pointing at her.
