Her hands danced around the letter in small flutters

As the words leaped from the page and kissed her cheek.

An old memory perched in front of her

She beckons for it to stay a little while longer.

The smell of musk flitted around her as she looked at me.

Her hands died and buried themselves in the folds of her skirt.

"Stay with me" she whispers almost to herself.

The note still lies in her lap, and crumples into itself

Breaking down to ash and lifting to her eyes.

Will you love me it asks of her.

Reaching out with only fingertips I brush away the dust.

She follows my fingers and rests her gaze with mine.

"Stay with me" she falls into my arms and I hold her.

Hold her limp form as though she would break

Skin like silk moves under my touch,

Veins bulge from her strain to wake.

Hush I beg of her.

I watch her chest slowly moving as her pace softens,

Before long she doesn't move.

I touch the soft folds of her face brushing fine wisps of hair from her eyes.

"Will you stay with me" I ask the silence.

No one answers.
