Ready?

Set?

Go!

I walked into the club at 7:45. The atmosphere was typical. There were neon lights and dancers everywhere.

I sat down at the bar and ordered a Pepsi. I was not getting drunk this early. The bartender smiled and quickly brought it back to me. The bar was a cool blue neon color, making the red in her hair stand out.

"You by yourself tonight hun?" her southern accent slipping out as she spoke.

"Nah, I'm meeting someone here." I look at my watch again.

7:56pm

"You don't sound that excited." She said, with a look on her face that I didn't quite understand.

"Yeah, I know. It's a lon-"

"Hey! Baby girl, whatcha drinking tonight?" The man I was suppose to meet slung his arm over my shoulder and spoke close to my ear.

"I'm not sure we've been formally introduced..." I pulled away to look at him. "I'm Adaria." I say as I stick out my hand.

"Well, I'm Matthew." he took it, his shake firm. He smiled brightly.

That smile won't last until sunrise.

"Bartender, we'll have a scotch on the rocks and ah..." He trails off looking at me, I finish for him, "I'll have a John Daily."

Matthew sits down next to me, and I give a smile to the bartender as she brings back our drinks.

"So, Matthew...can I call you Matt?" I rest my elbow on the bar and look up at him.

He grins, "Sure you can."

"What do you do for a living?" I ask, even though I already know.

"I'm an attorney, to say the least."

I feign a look of surprise and interest. I sip my drink, feeling the cool liquid down my throat.

"Oh really now? That's gotta be fun." I hint my words with playful sarcasm.

"Eh, it's actually not too bad. It pays the bills, and I enjoy most of the cases." He takes a gulp of his drink. I swirl the straw in mine and place it between my lips.

We're both silent for a moment, and there's a pause music. I mentally scan the room, looks like fun out on the floor.

"So, Adaria, what are you majoring in?" He asks after I take another sip of my drink.

Oh right I'm in college...

"I actually haven't decided yet, but I'm leaning toward English."

"Oh, so you write?" He seems impressed.

"Yeah, just a little here and there." I say, almost bored.

This is taking too long...

"Hey do you wanna get out of here? It's a little stuffy."

And I'm not lying.

As soon as the clock struck 9:00pm, people started packing the seats beside us and the dance floor looked like a throbbing mass of bodies.

He looked me up and down, before answering.

"Would you like to come back to my place?" his hand resting on my exposed leg, his thumb rubbing circles.

I spoke smoothly.

I was trained for this.

"I'd love to."

SOO! What do you guys think?!
