Feyre rode through the cool forest, listening to the steady rhythm of the horses hooves against the ground. She slumped in the saddle and stared up at the sunlight peeking gingerly in from between the trees. It was peaceful - wonderful knowing that she was going to ride home to a full plate of delicious food, unlike how it had always been at home. But despite the fact that she was better cared for in Prythian, she still missed her home and her family: her father, Elouise and even spiteful Nesta.
All of a sudden a flicker of shadow caught her eye. Feyre listened carefully, her horse tensed and ready to run. A whisper travelled through the trees, echoing through the forest.
"Look at me... Come to me... I will kill you, slit your throat, drink your blood... Look at me... Look at me..."
Feyre held her breath, feeling sure that whatever the thing was could hear her heart pounding in her chest. She turned, looking around her, desperate to catch a glimpse of the creature.
Then, in the blink of an eye, there it was. There it was, standing in front of her. It was deathly thin, and pale as a ghost. Large, sunken eyes were surrounded by ancient, wrinkled skin, and it's mouth was wide open, revealing pointed, rotten teeth. Dried blood was caked on it's chin, the only thing left to remember it's last victim.
All too fast the creature was on her, scraping sharp fingernails down her face, punching, biting. Blood ran into Feyre's eyes and she could taste blood in her mouth. There was nothing she could do to stop what was coming. She couldn't change fate, she realised, as she slowly faded into unconsciousness.
She was going to die.
Noooo, Feyre is dying!! If you like Feyre and the sound of the storyline, then the book I based this short story on is called A Court Of Thorns And Roses by Sarah J. Maas. I would definitely give it a try, it is so good! :)
